Dear First Grade Families,                                                        2-23-15

We are working hard to achieve our learning goals.  Please continue to make sure your child reads for homework 15 minutes or more each day.  The February reading log calendar is due next week.  Also, please make sure your child continues to do the spelling homework.

On Wednesday, February 25, we will celebrate the 100th day of school.  Your child may bring in a collection of 100 items any day this week.  This is not required, but your child may enjoy this activity.

The Unit 5 Math test will be sent home today.  Spelling booklets will also be sent home.  Please sign the spelling booklet and return.

Unit 6 Math lessons will include addition, subtraction, fact families, fact triangles, measurement, shapes, and telling time.

Social Studies lessons will include the study of how we learn about places.  Students will learn how to read a map.  They will also learn about absolute location or the specific address for a location.  Please help your child review his or her home address.

Science lessons will continue to involve the study of matter, solids, liquids, and gas.  Students are also learning about properties of objects.

Writing lessons will concentrate on the personal narrative or experience story.

Reminders:  Gym on Tuesday; Return library book on Friday.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Dobronski
