Friday Shapes Assignment: Please choose one or more of the activities below and send in a picture/video

  • Shape Sort: label containers (or make the shapes on the floor as seen below) with the shapes: circle, triangle, rectangle, and square. Then have your student sort toys, house hold objects, or paper shapes by shape. Example: I have a ball, which is a circle, so I place the ball in the circle pile.

  • Making shapes: Have your student use Popsicle sticks, pencils, pipe cleaners, or straws to make different shapes. Please help them identify the shape and count the sides.

  • Make your own shape matching game: Make small paper cut outs of the following shapes: Circle, oval, triangle, square, rectangle, diamond, heart, and star. Then, on a piece of paper, trace the outline of the cut shapes and label them. Have your student match the cut out shapes to the outlines on the paper, as seen below.
