  • Rhyming Jars: label 3 containers (cups, bowls) with ‘_AT’,’_UG’ and ‘_AN’. Next write the following words on Popsicle sticks or pieces of paper: CAT, BAT, RAT, MAT, HAT, JUG, BUG, HUG, MUG, RUG, CAN, MAN, FAN, PAN, and VAN. Have your student match the word to the container with the same ending sound. Example: I have the paper with the word ‘HAT’ on it. I would look at the 3 cups. Does it make an ‘_UG’ sound? No. Does it make an ‘_AT’ sound? Yes. I would put ‘HAT’ in the ‘_AT’ cup and take a new word.
