Today, we learned a bit of history on Labor Day which was celebrated on Monday, September 7th of this year. After watching the video, comment below on how you like to balance work, rest, and play! Do you like to watch movies, read books, or take walks? Share with us below.
Happy Thursday, friends! Congratulations on completing the first week of our soft start! After completing the calendar and watching CNN10, we’re going to take a virtual CBI trip to Target! Let’s think about our own experiences at the grocery store and the appropriate behaviors we should show while we are shopping. Enjoy! Have an awesome Labor Day weekend, friends. We will see you on Tuesday!
Check out the link below to listen to a “Back to School” song and play a game as you do! Use your core vocabulary board to answer the question “how do you feel” each time the song pauses!
Finally, listen to the song below about patterns and dance along! When the song pauses, uses your core vocabulary board or point to the screen to practice using our word “more.” Have a wonderful day friends and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything I can do to help you!
Good Morning! Welcome back to school! Parents, I will be contacting you throughout the week to touch base about what the next few weeks will look like for school. Below is the lesson for today! Please complete all five activities.

Let’s practice the word MORE with the help of Ms. Dawn and our Core Boards at home!
Our occupational therapist, Ms. Emily and her niece Emmaline show us how we can draw a picture on a mirror! Drawing or writing on a vertical surface is great for the development of the arm and shoulder muscles and encourages the correct wrist position for writing 🙂
Switch this activity up by playing Tic-Tac-Toe, practice writing letters and numbers, create a maze that your student has to solve, or write surprise messages to family members!

The new school year will begin this week. There is so much to learn and we will all be doing it together. We are very thankful for our Howe School Community!
If any of you still need to borrow a Chromebook for your child please complete this Chromebook Reservation Form and let me know so you can pick it up next week.
The beginning of our school year, we will be completely virtual. Daily school hours will be 8:15-3:10, with half days ending at 11:10. The first week of school, August 31st-September 3rd are all half day and will be considered a “soft start.” There is no school September 4th and September 7th for the Labor Day weekend.
The district will be offering in person “Learning labs” which will begin the week of September 21st. I will be reaching out to all my families next week with more information regarding the learning labs. “Learning labs” will run daily with a morning session and an afternoon session. Each student will be allowed to attend either the am or pm session daily. Each session will be 2.5 hours and busing will be provided. I am very excited about the beginning of our school year, along with the future opportunity of “Learning labs.”
If you have any questions and/or concerns please feel free to e-mail (orid@dearbornschools.org). I look forward to talking with each and every one of you very soon!
