I wanted to let you know when I have a substitute teacher in the classroom, the students do not follow directions. They are disrespectful, and do not complete their work because they are so off task. Fortunately, this does not include all of my students, but enough where it has become a problem. Many students receive yellow cards when I am gone. Please talk to your child about having integrity. They do act that way when I am here, so they should not when I am not. Thank you for your continued support of your child’s classroom.

Report cards came home today. The math and reading scores listed are from the Fall NWEA. The Winter scores will not update on the report card until the next card marking period. I will send home a Winter NWEA report later next week with updated scores.
Today Stella came in to do her research project. First, I want to thank you for allowing your child to participate. The students were so excited to work with her. Stella said all the students did a great job answering the questions she had for them. She was very pleased. I also want to tell you another teacher observed Stella working with the students, and impressed with how Stella handled herself with them, the vocabulary she used, and overall professionalism she displayed. Sorry I was unable to get any pictures. Good job Stella!
We are off to a great start! NWEA math is complete. The students worked hard this morning! Tomorrow we will start the reading section. Remember, parents, students need their rest and eat breakfast each day in order to perform well in school! Keep up to wonderful work!
Camp Meeting-February 6 at 6:00 in the Media Center
I have a former student, Stella Doverspike, completing a research project for her 11th grade AP Research class. She would like to have our class participate in this project. The students would watch a short video then answer questions for Stella to use in her research.
Your child brought home a permission slip today that will give Stella permission to question your child. Please review the note she sent home today that details her project.
Your child will not miss any class instruction to participate in Stella’s project. I will incorporate the time into our day. Please return the permission slip by next Tuesday, Jan. 14. Thank you.
Your child received 2 book orders today. Scholastic has started something new for online orders. If you order online, the price of the book is .50 less. Please use the class code, DH9N6, if ordering online. All orders are due by Friday. Thank you.
Our class will start the mid-year NWEA assessments next week. The students will take 3 assessments: Reading, Math, and Language. My plan is for the students to take the reading and math section next week before we have days off. They will complete the language section the following week after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. This schedule will allow for any necessary make-ups the last week of January. All testing needs to be completed before the end of the month. Other subjects may not be taught daily in order to accommodate the testing schedule throughout this month.
Please do your best to have your child at school on time during this testing month. Thank you.
With a grateful heart, I want to thank our Homeroom Parents for making the day a wonderful celebration for my kiddos! Mrs. Farhat, Mrs. Hider, and Mrs. Merhi organized the day once again with the support of Ms. Berry, Ms. Berry, Mr. & Mrs. Salame, Mrs. Skinner, And Mrs. Wetzel. The kids had a scrumptious pancake brunch with all the fixins! Crafts were created, laughs were had, and memories made. Thank you!
I also want to thank you for all your support this year! Your children are a blessing to me. They bring me so much joy! I love the family we have become these past 4 months. Everyone enjoy your time off with your own families. It is time to rest and rejuvenate for the coming year!
I will see you in January after we spend some quality time with our daughter, Anne, and her husband arriving from Texas, and our daughter, Megan, and her family. I will be getting some baby snuggles in with my new grandson, and building LEGOs with our granddaughter!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
