For the Application Problem, us 1/5kg instead of 15kg. There is a typo in your book.
Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all had a peaceful weekend. How did you like the field trips? Let me know! This week is Spirit Week! See the post from Sunday, so you know what to do each day. Send pictures to me today of you and your pet or stuffed animal. I will post a picture of Brooklynn with me sometime today! Here are your lessons for today:
Math– Exit Ticket for lesson 10. Watch the video for lesson 11, complete the Application Problem, Problem Set, and Zearn for lesson 11.
Science-today we start using Epic. I hope you all joined the class last week. If you didn’t, please go to https://www.getepic.com/students and use this code dda8292 to join . Read the book The Four Spheres of Earth. We are combining the Earth Systems and Layers of the Earth for this lesson. On pages 20-24, Atmosphere(Earth System), use this information, along with info from the video you watched on Atmosphere, illustrate the layers of the atmosphere. You will have 4 layers. On your illustration, add informational captions about each layer. Use color to enhance the divisions of each layer. Take a picture of it and send it to me. I can’t wait to see your scientific knowledge! Here is an example to show how to start.
Writing-poetry using alliteration. Read the poem focusing on the alliteration throughout the poem. Answer the questions on the activity sheet. Write in complete sentences, and tell me why!
Social Studies-read pgs 292-297. Read carefully because there is a lot of important information in this section. We will spend all week discussing this information by completing some interesting activities. Complete the guided reading activity in Classroom.
Language-action verbs activity; read the story then complete the activity in Classroom.
Read Aloud – Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus ch 15 & 16. Make a list like Aven did in Ch 16, but write 5-10 positive things that have happened to you during our time with Remote Learning. What has been good/positive about being at home while learning.

Join me this week for Spirit Week! Send me your pictures! This is for schools that will eventually go to Dearborn High and starts tomorrow. This is our time to unite and have fun!
There are two links below one to the Detroit Zoo and one to the National Parks. Take some time to “walk” through the zoo and look at all the different live cams and learn about the animals. Then go to the second link at “visit” all the National Parks. Observe everything that is going on in these wonderful places that we will get to visit again.
In science, we are learning about “Earth Systems”. There are four earth systems — atmosphere (air), biosphere (life), geosphere (earth), and hydrosphere (water). FYI- remember the word/suffix ‘sphere’ means circle. Here is the “kicker” about those four systems – they all work together all the time and they all affect each other. As you go on your virtual “field trips” try to notice the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere in everything you see.
Have fun! Enjoy your field trip.

Good Morning! I have good news…today is Friday! That means it is our last day before the weekend. Today is the last day of classwork this week! We have almost completed 2 weeks of Remote Learning. Way to go! I hope you are in contact with your classmates, online of course! Encourage each other with your work. Stay connected. How is math coming along? According to your Topic A quizzes the other day, pretty good!
Math-Exit Ticket for lesson 9; watch video for lesson 10 before completing the Application Problem and Problem Set for lesson 10. Several of you are falling behind with your Zearn lessons. Please catch up! We are nearing the midpoint of this Module. Don’t fall behind. Complete your lessons!
Science-watch the next video Earth Systems part 2; take notes like you did yesterday for the other 2 systems.
Read-reread Spirit of Endurance, but this time look for figurative language. This story is filled with it. Find the examples of personification on pg 520 & 526, examples of simile on pg 521, and examples of metaphor on pg 527 adding them to the Classroom assignment.
Read–Spirit of Endurance; complete the Problem & Solution activity in Classroom.
Social Studies-ReadWorks article Trouble is Brewing: A Tax on Tea. Read the article and answer the questions. It is in Classroom.
Read Aloud–Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus chapter 14. For me, this is by far the funniest chapter yet! Write about why Connor doesn’t want to eat with Aven’s family using examples, and describe what you learned about Aven.
IXL-complete all the starred activities in Math and Language Arts that I posted on Wednesday.
It may be a rainy day today, so have a good book ready. You may not be able to go into the backyard to play. Curl up & read! I miss you so much. Have a good weekend! Be good to your siblings and your parents! We are all in this together.
