Welcome to 5th grade! Our school will use Schoology for all communications and lessons for your students this year. I will communicate all the necessary information you will need as soon as I receive it.

We read Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus and everyone enjoyed it so much I wanted to share with the sequel. Aven’s story continues in Momentous Events in the Life of a Cactus!

A message from everyone at Howard! Have a wonderful summer, and good luck in middle school! Come back and see me.

Who finished reading Warriors Into the Wild?? How did you like the ending? Great, right?!?!? Read the 2nd book in the series called Warriors Fire and Ice for your Bryant Summer Learning. You will enjoy it! Remember, I only pick great books for us to read.

If you need suggestions to read for the summer, let me know. I have dozens I can recommend.

It was wonderful to see all of you yesterday! The day was great! The decorated cars were fabulous. If you have any pictures you want to share with me, I will post them on the blog for everyone to see. Thanks!

I have attached your Updated Summer Learning information above. The most important think you need to remember when practicing math is to login using CLEVER. You can continue to use Khan using your NWEA scores or click on 5th grade math. Work in a variety of areas within math to get the needed practice, and work on it 1 hour each week. If you go on vacation and need to make up some time, you may do more to catch up. You can check your minutes by going to ‘exercise minutes’ in Khan. Remember watching videos in Khan does not count toward your minutes.

For reading, click on Bryant in the presentation to see the directions. Read 3 books, and keep track of specific information; characters, setting, etc. See the directions! You do not need to complete a Book Talk until after school starts, but you do need your notes. If you are having difficulty finding a book(s) to read, please let me know. I will help you. I have a ton!
