Week of October 8th, 2018

This week we learned a variety of story devices that authors use when they write to keep us interested. Another thing we discussed were character traits, how writers help us understand a story by describing the characters through their speech, thoughts, the effects on others, their actions and finally, the way they look. The acronym we taught the students to help them remember these character traits is called S.T.E.A.L.

This coming up week, we will start reading a new story called, “Eleven.” We will learn about point of view or the view the author uses to tell their story. We will also learn what a theme of a story is and how figurative language helps make the story more interesting.

We have a late start Wednesday, October 17th, 2018.

Don’t forget to read every night for 20-30 minutes.
