Grammar quiz Thursday! Nouns, Verbs, Interjections (study notes, MobyMax and IXL starred lessons can help you study as well), there is also practice on Quizlet (link on my Clever and iLearn).

Remember – there are no retakes for my quizzes as the retake is built into the quiz. You have 3 chances to get the question correct.

Bellwork: We did 15 minutes of silent reading and then completed metacognition reading log entry #12 – metacognition logs will be collected and graded on Thursday (#1-10).

The newest Article of the Week which is a Pro/Con article about whether college athletes should get paid to play is due Friday, December 20th. If students weren’t behind on work or finished their verb practice and article of the week, they were allowed choice stations of One-Pagers, MobyMax, ReadTheory, or IXL Extra Credit.

After silent reading time, we worked in reading and writing stations. Most Fridays we will be doing this. Students were required to go to my station to work on concrete, abstract, proper, plural, and possessive noun practice. This is homework due Monday if not completed. Students also were required to visit the Newsela station to begin their next Article of the Week which is a Pro/Con article about college athletes getting paid to play or not. Students were able to make a third station choice of their own to work on their One-Pagers, Read Theory, or IXL. Students will get credit for participating in the stations based on their focus/behavior (i.e. I didn’t have to move them from a station for being disruptive) as well as whether or not they signed in at 3 stations (2 of the required stations at minimum because they could have visited Newsela twice if they wanted).

Homework

  • Noun Practice due Monday (if you didn’t already finish it – glue it on page 53 in your Reading ISN when finished and we will review answers on Monday)
  • Read Theory (5 passed every week starting November 2nd – 25 by Sunday)
  • Read your “good fit” book for 20 minutes (you need to do this for your One-Pagers!)
  • One-Pager #3 due January 10th
