Folktale projects were due today! After a round of Daily 5, students got some time to practice their presentation before sharing their research with the class. 3-4 groups presented today and we will finish our presentations tomorrow. These presentations turned out really great and I can’t wait to see the rest of them!
Students were given an entire week to research, plan, and finalize their research. It is worth 50 summative points (30 for the PowerPoint presentation and 20 for their theme scrapbook page). Any students unprepared with either portion will receive a zero and have until tomorrow to present their final projects to the class with 25% taken off for being late.
Have a greatĀ evening!
Homework
- Read 20 minutes and respond on reading log (due tomorrow!)
Upcoming Field Trip
Students were sent home with a permission slip this week to go on a field trip to seeĀ Beauty and the Beast on May 12th with the entire 6th grade, followed by lunch at the Fairlane Mall food court. This field trip is part of our language arts folktales curriculum and a written response will be collected as a summative grade once we return. Any student that does not participate in the field trip (excused absence included) must still fulfill this grade requirement by reading the Beauty and the Beast folktale and writing up a C.E.R. response citing textual evidence to support the given prompt. We are encouraging all students to participate in this field trip but understand that not all students show interest or are able to attend. To be fair to all students, the written response is a requirement for everyone.
