Bellwork: Silent Reading & Metacognition Reading Log

Reading: We are learning about figurative language this week. We reviewed similes and metaphors and did practice with song lyrics. We then took notes on personification and imagery and watched a Flocabulary video to reinforce our notes.

Writing: We began our “Overcoming Obstacles” rough draft today. This is not homework and we will be given time in class tomorrow and Friday to finish this.

One-Pagers are due not later than Friday (1/10). I WILL NOT accept these late because you have 2 1/2 months to work on them! These are worth 20 summative points EACH!

All late work and missing assignments are due no later than FRIDAY as well (1/10). Many students are missing MobyMax and their Newsela articles (self-driving cars and college athletes articles). You had two full days in class and Winter Break to turn in missing assignments. If these are not done by Friday they will remain a zero.

Homework

• Read Theory (5 passed every week) – 55 total passed from November 2nd-January 17th to get full points
• Read your “good fit” book for 20 minutes (you need to do this for your One-Pagers!)
• One-Pager #3 and #4 due FRIDAY – I DO NOT accept these late
• Missing assignments due no later than Friday. You had all Winter Break and 2 days in class leading up to Winter Break to work on these assignments. If they aren’t done by Friday they will remain a zero.
