Today’s Agenda

Bellwork: Interjection foldable notes were taken for grammar work.

Reading: We are learning about figurative language this week. We will learn two a day and practice with them the following day. Today we took notes on similes and metaphors and watched a BrainPop video.

Writing: We brainstormed and planned a personal narrative topic idea. We brainstormed obstacles we’ve had to overcome in our lives (“roadblocks” that we learned something from). We were given a storyboard to plan out our idea. We were given time to work on this in class, if it was not completed in class it is now homework – due tomorrow.

One-Pagers are due not later than Friday. I WILL NOT accept these late because you have 2 1/2 months to work on them! These are worth 20 summative points EACH!

All late work and missing assignments are due no later than FRIDAY as well. Many students are missing MobyMax and their Newsela articles (self-driving cars and college athletes articles). You had two full days in class and Winter Break to turn in missing assignments. If these are not done by Friday they will remain a zero.

Homework

• Read Theory (5 passed every week) – 55 total passed from November 2nd-January 17th to get full points
• Read your “good fit” book for 20 minutes (you need to do this for your One-Pagers!)
• One-Pager #3 and #4 due FRIDAY – I DO NOT accept these late
• “Overcoming Obstacles” narrative plan due tomorrow (if not finished in class)
• Missing assignments due no later than Friday. You had all Winter Break and 2 days in class leading up to Winter Break to work on these assignments. If they aren’t done by Friday they will remain a zero.
