November 19th

Today we went to the library at the beginning of class to renew and exchange “good fit” books.

Reading: We reviewed the 4 types of conflict and read the story “Tuesday of the Other June”. We had a discussion on what types of conflicts the protagonist encountered in the story. We will further analyze this throughout the week.

You can read the story here in case you were absent: https://1.cdn.edl.io/gIDKhg0jg6mH818ZtNtfhGCBWK4w57W7b2JG5WPimtaij5pS.pdf

Writing: We used our discussion questions to have a Socratic Seminar on video games and whether they had a mostly positive or negative impact on young people. We used the two articles (“The Violent Side of Video Games” and “What Video Games Can Teach Us”) to support our thoughts on the subject. We will be writing about our opinions tomorrow.

The articles can be downloaded here:

Block 2 ONLY – Please consider signing up to bring a dish, drink, or utensils to share for our Celebration of Diversity Luncheon on November 26th. You can sign up on my Google Classroom or return the invitation with the name of your dish back to Mrs. Dailing. All students will be doing this with their block 2 teacher so please check their blogs for more information.
