Hello! Mrs. Dailing will be returning to school soon enough! This week marks the last week of the card-marking. All One-Pagers should be turned in and MobyMax finished. Any MobyMax completed from October 25th (late evening after I did the final reset) until November 1st (last day of card marking) will not be reset and you will receive the grade earned. If you have any lesson or lesson assessment not attempted, you will receive a zero.
This week’s reminders:
30 Read Theory quizzes passed from Sept. 23rd-Nov. 1st. Directions on how to properly check this are in the previous post about homework.
Parts of Speech quiz TOMORROW – study your notes and use quizlet to practice. (Quizlet link found on my Google Classroom and iLearn)
Unit 1 Test – Wednesday – this will be open book but NOT open note. Students will be asked to know and apply the following:
“Eleven” (story – open book)
“The School Play” (story – open book)
Author’s Purpose (P.I.E.)
Point of View (4 different kinds and how to identify them)
THE FOLLOWING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE FRIDAY:
1. One-Pager #1 – Students must use a novel they are currently reading, NOT same novel they did summer assignment on. NO graphic novels, if it has pictures it cannot be used for One-Pager. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY. Everything must be handwritten – only summary on back may be typed and attached. Staple rubric to one-pager before turning in. (20 summative points)
2. Moby Max – You have had 3 weeks to complete this, yet 1/3 of my students haven’t even started it yet. This is due in 3 days and is worth 100 points. I will reset Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. I will NOT reset after Friday morning.
Parts of Speech Overview Lesson (10 points) & Assessment(10 points)
Moby MaxInformation– Students must sign in through CLEVER on the Dearborn student page. You can find them under the “Language” button or the “Assignments” tab. Each lesson is worth 10 points and each assessment is worth 10 points. Do the lesson BEFORE the assessment! Students must receive an 85% or higher for all 10 points on each. I will reassign any that are lower so they may redo for a higher score, otherwise they will receive the percentage earned. I will not reset after Friday morning.
3. Newsela – Not homework unless you don’t finish in class – due Friday because you’ve had ample amount of class time to complete. Quizzes will not be reset if you didn’t finish your Talking to the Text (annotations).
Talking to the text – 10 points
Quiz – 4 points
Power words – 5 points
CER – 6 points
TOTAL POINTS – 25
