October 17th

Today we worked on making predictions about a story using the text features available. We will confirm or adjust our predictions tomorrow as we read the story “Eleven”. We wrote our predictions in our ISNs and shared with a partner. We then completed common and proper nouns and worked on abstract and concrete nouns.

Don’t forget tomorrow is late start! No advisory. Block 1 starts at 9:00 am!

Progress reports:  Progress reports are only given out to students that have a C or lower in any class. If your student was not given a progress report it would be because their grade is above a C in their classes!

Homework

  • 20 minutes of reading “good-fit” book (60 minutes per week!)
  • 60 minutes of MobyMax-LANGUAGE
  • One-Pagers are due no later than November 3rd! (End of marking period 1)
    •   Book #1 and Book #2 directions have been given to the students!

Middle school reading success is all about comprehension and expanding their vocabulary! If you would like to be more involved in working on reading at home, here are some resources to get you started! Simply ask these questions before, during, or after your student has completed their 20-60 minutes of reading at home! Click on the links to find out more:
