We began class with a vocabulary activity that incorporated play vocabulary and “The Prince and the Pauper” drama vocabulary. Students paired up and chose a word to investigate and share with the class. After a round of daily 5 we previewed “The Prince and the Pauper” then played a A-Z Brainstorm game to activate our prior knowledge of the play, vocabulary we learned, what we noticed from our preview, and the time period.
We are taking a break from dramatic plays due to NWEA testing! We are taking our final NWEA Reading test tomorrow followed by the Language test on Thursday. Please make sure your student gets plenty of rest and eats breakfast!!

Upcoming Field Trip
Students were sent home with a permission slip last week to go on a field trip to see Beauty and the Beast on May 12th with the entire 6th grade, followed by lunch at the Fairlane Mall food court. These are due by Thursday, April 27th! This field trip is part of our language arts folktales curriculum and a written response will be collected as a summative grade once we return. Any student that does not participate in the field trip (excused absence included) must still fulfill this grade requirement by reading the Beauty and the Beast folktale and writing up a C.E.R. response citing textual evidence to support the given prompt. We are encouraging all students to participate in this field trip but understand that not all students show interest or are able to attend. To be fair to all students, the written response is a requirement for everyone.
