Today we were introduced to our Character Analysis Essay. We chose a character we would like to focus on for our essays and planning out our body paragraphs using our Character Traits Chart we created yesterday. We continued identifying rhyme schemes in poems as well.

Today we continued analyzing Tuck Everlasting for character traits and evidence to support our analysis. We did half as a class and then worked with a partner to finish.

Today we practiced more with identifying poem rhyme schemes with Shel Silverstein’s “Smart”. We also did a “Rainbow Write” about the character traits of the characters in Tuck Everlasting. We will continue reading Tuck Everlasting next week.

We discussed Tuck Everlasting in our literature circle groups today and created a “Character traits chart” with our groups using our previously brainstormed ideas.  If students did not finish, they can finish during the first round of Daily 5 tomorrow. We are continuing to study the basics of poetry as well with rhyme schemes and identifying a rhyme scheme of a poem. We will continue practicing this tomorrow as well.

We continued learning about characterization and applying it to Tuck Everlasting characters. We analyzed chapters 9-11 for character traits that describe Winnie Foster and answering comprehension questions.
