IEP Goal Work/Movement Monday

Happy Monday, everyone!

For today’s lesson we are going to work on our IEP goal workbook that I sent to your home. It is very important to continue to work on these skills so our kids do not have significant regression when we return to school.

It is also important to understand students sometime struggle with just sitting down and doing work for long periods of time. Make sure to give breaks when needed or you sense your child is getting frustrated or agitated!

Here is an example of a Workbook Schedule:

  • 15 minutes of work
  • Yoga
  • 15 Minutes of work
  • Brain Break
  • 15 Minutes of work
  • Read/Listen to a story
  • 15 minutes of work
  • All Done

First/Then support:
If your child benefits from First/Then or a Choice Board, then your language with your child changes a little bit. Ask/Show first what they would like as their reward then have them WORK for their reward. Visuals always help.

  • FIRST Work, THEN Yoga
  • FIRST Work, THEN Brain Break
  • FIRST Work, THEN read/listen to a story
  • FIRST Work, THEN Super Why episode
  • FIRST Work, THEN family walk

I read A LOT to my students, about 3-4 books a day – either with physical books or through EPIC https://www.getepic.com/, an online book resource. If you would like more information, please contact me and I can give you my account login.

Here are some some brain breaks, yoga, and stories we use in the classroom!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ms. Cullip
