Dear Parents,
I have created a learning packet that is being mailed to your house this week to supplement the academic learning activities I post here on the blog. Inside the packet you will receive work for Language Arts, Math, and IEP goals. In the mean time, here is how you can work on your child’s letter identification and sound association at home with the resources you could have around you:
Everyday at school we work on letter identification and sound association by using flash cards. I do not purchase these, I use index cards that I cut in half and a marker. I will show you how to use these flashcards in different ways throughout the next couple of days.

After you’ve cut the index card or paper, write a uppercase letter on one side, then a lowercase letter on the other side.

Ways to use flashcards:
- Trace the letter
- Sort
- Memory/concentration game
- Spread the cards all over the floor. Call out a letter and have your child find it
- Work together to arrange the cards in alphabetical order.
- Work on identifying letters in their name
For the kids who are working on CVC (Consonant Vowel Consonant) words, have them spell words out with the flashcards.

Here are some videos I play in the classroom to help:
Please let me know if you have any questions!! I am happy to help!
