Supplies / Books / Folder Pick up and Drop off tomorrow!

Hello everyone!

Tomorrow from 10:00 to 1:00 pm I  will be at school gathering your folders so that you can pick them up.  Many of you have certificates in those folders that you will want  to save.    Also, this is the opportunity for you to drop off books or supplies that you have borrowed from me.   Please plan on stopping by school tomorrow during the distribution time of 12- to 1 pm.  Please come to door #1 to pickup or drop off anything.  Have a card or piece of paper that you can show through the car window with your name on it.   Students must be accompanied by a parent or adult if you are under 18.

Pharm Tech students: Many of you have the PassAssured binders!  I will need those back!  Thanks!

Weekly Update

Good Morning My Pharm Tech Students,

I have sent each one of you a REMIND to update you on what needs to be completed before Thursday, May 21st, your very last day of high school.  Thursday will be your final exam and you will need to set aside about two hours to complete it.  I was thinking that we could do this whatever time all of you are ready – 3:00 pm?  You will need to send me a REMIND to let me know if this is a good time for you.  I’d like to work around your Ramadan schedule but at the same time, have all of you taking it together.   We could even do it Friday if you all vote that that’s what you’d like to do.  Let me know, OK?  The final exam will be worth 15% of your grade.

Tuesday is the mandatory Big Blue Button at 1:30 pm.  Bring your questions, comments, concerns. Please have your PTCE confirmation ready as I will need that information. Many of you haven’t sent me your date even though I have asked several times.   You all realize you get 5 summative points for attending BBB, don’t you?  Some of you have never attended!  On Tuesday, I will give you an update on the PTCE testing, ID’s, and procedures.  I made a phone call to PearsonVue and the lady I talked with had a lot of information for us!  Be there.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this last weekly update to you – I regret not being able to see all of you in my classroom every day, though not at 7:30 am as I am not a morning person!   :O)  I regret that I have not been there to see you though and cheer you though this program and your senior year.  Mostly, I’m disappointed that I will not be able to say goodbye properly as I have grown very fond of all of you (even Baydoun!)  JK.  Each one of you has a huge gift to give to the world, though it has been put on hold because of this stupid virus, it only affords you more time to develop it.  With that being said, it is my hope, my desire that none of you let go of your Pharm Tech education just yet.  YOU CAN PASS that exam and have PhT after your name with a state licensure.  Just think, with this certification, you will never be without a job. This is a valuable certification that is worth it’s weight in gold and you have the information in front of you that will enable you to get it.  You will need to study at least 2 hours every day and believe me, it will be worth it.  You can do this!

I do hope with all my heart that each and every one of you keeps me updated on your PTCE test results and that you don’t forget about including me in on your future successes!  I will miss all of you very much.  I have faith in every one of you – go out and do this! You know how to get hold of me.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Craig

Big Blue Button Meeting – May 12th

Hello Everyone!

For those of you who were at the meeting and those of you who weren’t – here is synopsis of what was discussed.  All of which was important.

  1. FINISH PassAssured!  That means the study aids too.  Grades will have to be put in and you need to have EVERYTHING DONE.  Your final will be on PassAssured on your last day of school – June 21st.  Please make sure you set aside time to take it at 1:30 pm.  If you are working you need to ask for the day off.  I will open the “mid-term” so that you can practice.
  1. Here’s the link that I used for the PTCE “How to Pass the PTCE in 30 Days” video.  Please click on the subscribe button for more helpful videos on memorizing the Top 200 drugs.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-23SAa9UccQ
  1. Please see the attached document in your email for the answer to Hannan’s very difficult math problem.  Look it over as there may be something like it on the exam.
  1. Send me your confirmation email regarding your PTCE test date, site and time.  Check and double check your email to make sure it is still on as many of you tell me that the test is being given to you at home.  PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CONFIRMATION so that I know when you are going to take the exam.

Study 3 hours a day on PassAssured!

Week of May 10th

Hello everyone,

I hope you all treated your moms well for mother’s day.  I had a socially distant visit from my daughter that I will remember for the rest of my life – memories are being made because of this dog gone virus, aren’t they?

Tuesday, May12th is our Big Blue Button meeting at 1:30.  I have the answer to Hannan’s math problem and my husband’s theory on why no one could figure it out.  I bet you all can’t wait to hear that one!  Also, we didn’t have time to talk about the PCTE rescheduling last visit and I want to do that too.  Please bring your questions and concerns to the BBB on Tuesday and REMEMBER, this is mandatory – that means you MUST be there.

The Thursday BBB will be on a need be basis. I am very happy to meet with anyone (or all) of you on Thursday if you need help with your work, or you just want to talk. Please don’t hesitate to send me a REMIND if you want to meet at 1:30 pm to make sure I open up the BBB room on iLearn.

Many of you are making HUGE progress on PassAssured!  I’m so proud of all of you!  Let’s keep the momentum going.  You have extra time because of the virus to study – use it.  You can all have PhT after your name in one short month if you put in a little work every day, right  now!  What else do you have to do?

As always, I’m available through REMIND, email (craigv@dearbornschools.org), google classroom and of course, my blog. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need ANYTHING. I am here to help!

Week of May 4th

Hello My Pharm Tech Students,

A couple of you have finished the program and are right on track to studying for the PTCE.  Good job.

More than several of you are not spending any or enough time on the program.  REMEMBER, in order to pass the class this work needs to be completed.  If you do not finish the modules in PassAssured, you are in danger of failing.  I have been communicating with you via REMIND for the most part but will be calling home this week if I don’t see any REAL progress.  PLEASE spend some time on your program this week.  You really should be putting in a couple of hours a day to prepare  to pass the PTCE.

Some of you have had your PTCE appointments cancelled.  I’d like to talk about the repercussions of the test being put off.  Please try to reschedule for a later date – maybe the middle of June.

Mandatory Big Blue Button will happen on Tuesday, May 5th at 1:30 pm.  They have worked on and fixed many of the audio issues we were having so hopefully it will go better this week.  REMEMBER, this is mandatory.  I think there were only 4 people there last week.

See you on Tuesday.

Hello Everyone!

I hope all of you had a good weekend and are acting responsibly during this time.  That means staying home (no, you shouldn’t be breaking your fast at another house but your own).  It sounds innocent enough but remember, you can’t see this virus.  It could be lurking anywhere and you could bring the virus home to your family.  It is up to each and every one of us to follow the guidelines.  We will deal with repercussions afterwards if we don’t.

I am sure by now that all of you have heard about the horrific problems with google meet last week. The students involved are under criminal investigation by the Dearborn Police Department.  This is a reminder to all of you that what you do online is being monitored and can be traced.  Let’s act responsibly.

Because of the issues we are switching to a new platform.  There, once again, will be a learning curve for all of us so be patient please.  This platform is in iLearn and it is called Big Blue Button. It gives the teacher more control than google meet.   It will be the first link in your iLearn course called PharmTech Virtual Classroom – Big Blue Button (BBB). Pharm Tech meets at 1:30 pm on Tuesdays.  See you there!  Remember this is mandatory meaning you MUST ATTEND.  I look forward to seeing all of you.

Not mandatory are BBB sessions on Thursdays at the same time.  These Thursday sessions are if you have specific questions, or your just want to meet up and discuss coursework or how you are spending your time!

A few of you still haven’t forwarded to me the confirmation email that you received when you signed up for your state exam.  Please do that NOW.

Even though it seems like there is a lot of time, there really is only about 4 weeks left of school.  You should ALL be finished with PassAssured and studying for the exam by now.  NO PRESSURE

Please don’t hesitate to send questions or comments my way.  I am here ready to help.  Have a good week.

Kinda of a cool date huh?

Dear Students,

I know the last several weeks have not been easy for you.  These are unprecedented times and we are all finding new ways to cope with the new and unusual ways of finishing off the semester.  Your parents have shared a great deal of the burden and I want to personally thank them for supporting you and me at this difficult time.

Your will continue to learn remotely until the end of the school year.  I intend to move forward with the curriculum as I expect you to continue putting forth your best effort into learning. Here are my expectations:

1.  We will be meeting twice a week to discuss new material and answer any questions you may have via google meet. Attendance to google meet is mandatory.   You will get an invite but just so you know, it will be every Tuesday and Thursday.

2.  In addition, you can expect to receive instructions / assignments by means of google classroom, iBlog, iLearn, Remind and email. You should expect assignments that will take 1 hour per day to complete.  Due dates are important and will be followed.

3.  Grades do count and will be entered on a regular basis.   Furthermore, if the you are not participating, your teacher (that’s me!) and then the principal will be calling home to touch base and discuss a plan to motivate and encourage you.

4.  Work that was completed over the last month will be marked graded and any missed work must be made up.

I plan to be available to you by email any time. I will respond to messages within 24 hours and until 4pm each day.  I will hold “office hours” on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00.  I can be reached via email at craigv@dearbornschools.org, or, better yet, on Remind.

I look forward to continuing to work with you!
