Families,

It’s hard to believe that 2015 is coming to an end! As our long, well deserved break approaches, we have to continue to look ahead at the things to come. As soon as we get back from the holiday break, students will begin their mid-year NWEA testing in reading and math (testing will begin on Monday, January 4th). I understand that this is not an ideal test-taking time for our little ones, but I don’t have control over the schedule. To help keep our kids on track and in the school mindset, I will be sending home two practice NWEA packets, one for reading and one for math this Friday. We will be going over the packets each day during our Daily 5 mini lessons so the kids will be acquainted with the questions andĀ format.

I am aware that this time is called a break for a reason, so please give your child the break they deserve and use this packet when you have a few extra minutes and can spare some time to get back into the homework routine. Students can turn in these packets when we come back, Monday, January 4th for EXTRA CREDIT. I know some families are traveling for the holiday season, so keeping a study routine will be difficult.

I hate to give “homework” over the long break, but I really want our students to be at their best when they come back. I want them to feel confident and ready to go šŸ˜€

Thank you all for your support and help!
