Good morning families!
I hope everyone had a restful weekend and was able to enjoy some time outside. Attached are my lesson plans for this week (4/20-4/24). Once again, you will see I changed them up a little bit to meet the requirements of the Dearborn Continuity of Learning Plan that was submitted to Wayne RESA for approval. I hope you find them helpful and that your students enjoy them.
Speaking of the Dearborn Continuity of Learning Plan, an update has been made regarding grading, which several of you have inquired about. Starting today, April 20th until the end of the school year, all assignments I post will be “graded” and counted towards report card 4. HOWEVER, grading will look different than it has in the past. We will no longer be giving the traditional 1, 2, 3 or 4 “grades.” Grading from here on out will be based on an effort level. So if all assignments are completed for the week, your child will receive the highest participation or effort grade. If half of the assignments are completed, then a progressing effort grade will be given. If no assignments are completed, then the lowest effort grade will be given. The exact terminology for the level of effort has not been determined at this time, but when I find out, I will share that information with you.
With all of this being said, I must ask that after your child completes an assignment to please take a picture of it and send it to me through Classdojo. I have to keep a log for each student along with every assignment I give in my lesson plans to keep track of work that is being completed by each student.
I know this sounds overwhelming. Trust me, I get it. It is a lot. For parents, for kids, for teachers, and everyone else. I have talked to all of you I know some families are struggling more than others, which means I maintain the view that our physical health, mental health and overall well-being is my number one priority. I want to give you all the resources and information coming down from district to keep everyone informed, but, honestly, do what you can. Please do not panic or let this stress you out ( I know, I know, easier said than done). Take a look at my weekly lesson plans, make an honest effort and do what you can. I can’t ask anymore than that.
Phew! Sorry for the long message. I just wanted to keep everyone up-to-date. As always, I am here for you. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. We are all in this together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Otto
