Hi everyone,

I appreciate your patience as we work through these new changes to our learning for the upcoming weeks. With mandatory schools closures across the state and our scheduled spring break, students will not be returning to school until Monday, April 13, 2020. In the meantime, attached is a link for lesson plans that you can do online with your child. Similar to the “summer slope,” we do not want to see any “March slope.” Being out for a month is a challenge for everyone, but mostly the kids. When we finally return to school, the end of the school year will be approaching which means a lot of testing and preparing for 2nd grade. We hate to put more work on you, the parents, as this is already a scary and stressful time, but we need your help. Please follow these recommended lesson plans throughout the next 3 weeks (nothing is assigned during Spring break). If you have any questions, please let me know – I am here for all of you!!

Ms. Otto

Additional notes:

  • Our field trip to the Michigan Science Center scheduled for the 27th of March has been CANCELED. We will more than likely not be rescheduling the trip due to the district’s precautions and them asking schools to refrain from field trips until the Fall. We are currently trying to negotiate the contract that we signed with the Science Center as they are not refunding our $500 down payment that we put down 3 weeks ago (it was put on a teacher’s credit card, so we have to figure out a way to get that money back).
  • The book fair will be rescheduled sometime in April. More details to follow.
  • The March is Reading Month Rockin’ Read-a-thon is CANCELED. All money will be returned when we go back to school.
