Hi families!

You will find your child’s second report card in their Owl folder today. You will be happy to see improvements from your student overall. They have worked hard, and it shows. Keep in mind, the expectations are higher than they were for the first card marking, so if you don’t see the amount of growth you were hoping for, please know that your child has grown, but so have the benchmarks and expectations. Please keep the report card, sign the envelope and return the envelope to school on Friday. Thanks!

Inside of their report card envelope, you will also find a copy of their NWEA scores. Their most recent score is shown on there. Here is a quick reminder of how to read those bars:

Blue bar = your students score – I highlighted their scores (the W17 bar is the most recent test score)

Orange bar = the average score of all 1st graders in Dearborn Public Schools (this bar is missing for the W17 area because the whole district has not completed the test, so we do not have official average scores for the district)

Yellow bar = the average score of all 1st grades in the country (bar on the far right)

At this point in the year, we would like to see the kids at a 176 for math and a 175 for reading. If your child didn’t quite reach that goal, it is okay. These are progressive tests and you can see the huge amount of growth they have made since September. If they are making growth, they will eventually hit their goal 🙂

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask 🙂
