WELCOME!! I just wanted to send a quick message to welcome all of you to first grade! We had an awesome first day of school! We met new friends, read stories, practiced writing, reviewed letter sounds and even made some “Jitter Juice” to get rid of those nervous feelings that all kids have at the beginning of a new school year.
This is my blog that I will update regularly. It is important to check it weekly for any reminders, upcoming events or classroom news. You can see from my previous posts from last year, I love updating my blog and keeping you all informed. I truly believe a strong home-to-school connection and relationship is essential for every child’s success.
You can browse my blog to find out more about me and my teaching history. Currently, our specials schedule is not set in stone, so I will let you know as soon as I find out. Tentatively, gym is on Wednesday, so please remember to have your child wear gym shoes so they don’t miss out on the fun! 🙂
In your child’s folder, you found a welcome to school packet from me that is filled with a ton of information. If you have any questions, please do no hesitate to ask – I’m always available through e-mail (ottoc@dearbornschools.org) or before/after school. There is also a sheet about an app called ClassDojo that I will be using this year that helps with short, quick communications. I highly suggest downloading the FREE app and following the directions in your packet to subscribe to our class. If you need any help, stop by, and we will get you set up!
Sometime this week, you will find an emergency card in your child’s folder. Please review all of the information. If it is correct, sign it at the bottom and return to school the next day. If something needs to be corrected, please make the corrections, sign and send back in your child’s folder.
I think that is all for now! Have a great night and I will see everyone in the morning!! 🙂
Ms. Otto
