Hi everyone!

Happy Friday Eve! 🙂 I just wanted to send you guys some updates about some things coming up.

  1. Our specials schedule is still being finalized and we will know for sure our permanent schedule on Monday. As soon as I know, I will post the schedule on my blog.
  2. Library book check out will be every Monday. Your child should have come home with a library book from school on Monday. You can keep this book at home for the week, but make sure to bring it back every Monday so your student can check out a new book. If they do not bring it back, your child will not be able to check out a new book. If you lose a book, it will need to be paid for before your student can get a new one.
  3. We finished our Math NWEA test this week. WOHOOO! The kids did really well and I’m excited to see their scores 🙂 We will begin the Reading NWEA on Monday and finish it Tuesday. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep Sunday and Monday night and eats a filling and healthy breakfast in the morning. This makes testing a bit easier for the kids 🙂
  4. Some students brought home their reading bag last night, some did not. Inside the book bags you may have found a sight word book, a book, or both. These book bags are to be taken home every night and returned EVERY DAY! We use them every day for our reading groups, so please make sure they come back each day. This is really, really important. Books inside the book bag are to be read at home 3-5 times. Right now there’s only one book in there, so shoot for 5 times. As you see more books in their bags, 3 times each is fine. I have tested all the kids on their sight word books. The words without the stickers are the words they DO NOT know. Please practice these words with your child every night. Those also need to come back to school every day and kept in their book bag. Do not do the writing portion of the books or add your own stickers, I will take care of that 🙂 If your student did not come home with their book bag yesterday or today, don’t panic! They will all be coming home tomorrow for sure, with a book and their sight word book! The book bags are a process and meeting with every kid for their sight words and a strategy group takes time. Thanks for your patience.
  5. Spelling test and timed addition math test are tomorrow!
  6. We started our first science unit today on our 5 senses. We talked about each sense, gave examples of how we use them and what they do for us/why they are so important. There is a homework sheet in their folder to be completed tonight and returned to school tomorrow. Thanks for your help in making sure your child gets their homework completed on time 🙂
