Week in Review

Hello! Things are moving along and I have a few updates for you regarding the program.

CBI/Job Sites – Will begin the week of September 23rd. Next week, you will receive a note that will let you know where your student has been placed for the semester, along with any other pertinent information. Our first CBI trip will be on Tuesday, September 24th. Students are expected to come prepared to participate. I would like to move away from students buying “whatever they want” – which most often results in a bag of chips and a coke from the checkout line. While they are welcome to purchase those things, we will be working on more focused lessons. Everything will be outlined for you prior to the trip.

We will be starting work on our small businesses this week.  If any one burns candles and is ready to throw it away please send it in and we can use the remaining wax for our pinecone fire starters.

Donation List

-Old candles so we can get the leftover wax

-Pairs of tongs

-Old cookie sheet

-Tin Foil

-Different color ribbon

-Gift Wrap tissue paper

We will be starting lessons and activities on our classroom laptops.  Please send in headphones for students.  We will label all headphones and store in our classroom.

Small Business:

We started making dog treats this week.  This will be a good opportunity for the students to learn measuring and simple cooking skills.  The plan will be to eventually sell the treats in order to make money for our class!

We will be making pinecone fire starters to sell as an additionally way to make money for our class.  This week we worked on wrapping the wicks around the pinecones.  It was a challenging task but the students practiced and we made tons of progress!

Have a great weekend and see everyone Monday!
