Please do not forget to join us for our “Haigh Last Day of School Drive-Thru”!!! This final chance to see your Haigh classroom , specials, and support teachers is taking place this Thursday from 10:00am-11:30am. We have definitely missed our owls and hope that you are able to come by to see us before Summer officially begins! K-2 families please use the Silvery Lane Drop Off Lane, 3rd-5th grade families please use the Coburn Drop Off Lane. Second graders, I am sorry that this is coming so late in the week. I have been trying to do a nice video lesson with me in it, and it just hasn’t been working out. So I am going to have you go to the video on your own. You will need to type YouTube Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra The English Chamber Orchestra into the search bar and click on it. The video is in two parts, and they should be the first two selections at the top of the list. When the first part ends, it will go automatically to the second part. Before you start the video, get a paper and pencil. The orchestra and a narrator are going to teach you about the instruments of the orchestra. As you watch the video, I would like you to write down each instrument that you hear about. For extra credit you can group them by families; woodwinds, strings, brass, and percussion. Then tell me which instrument you think that you would like to learn to play. Take a picture of your paper and send it to me through email. I hope you enjoy it.

Children (and parents), I am sorry this is coming to you so late in the week. I was going to send you a video of me starting off another video, but after three tries, I had to give up. What you are going to do for this week is watch a video, (without me) and write a few answers for me. The video is Tubby the Tuba. You will need to type YouTube Tubby the Tuba Boston Pops into the search bar and click on it. This should take you directly to the video. Get a piece of paper and a pencil before you start the video. The orchestra, along with a narrator is going to tell you a story. On your paper you need to write down the three main characters, and also any other instruments that you hear, or the narrator mentions. You don’t need to write down every instrument. While you are watching the video, listen to how the music sounds like what is going on (for instance when the orchestra is laughing or when Tubby is sitting by the lake. I hope you enjoy the story.

Second graders, I think I made a mistake in my directions for your assignment. When you get to activity 11 just do two or three of the games, and take pictures of them to send to me. Sorry about the mixup.
