COVID Quarantine Day 19

Good morning and welcome to Computer Science!

I hope you are all doing well, staying healthy, staying home, staying socially distant. You’ll continue to get opportunities to learn during our enforced separation but, this upcoming week is Spring Break. A chance to catch up, chill out and maybe enjoy nicer weather.

Your final pre-Spring Break assignment is to finish Unit 5: Lesson 5. Do not do the “AP Practice Response” in part 22.

Today’s Remind question: What does “==” mean in coding language? Post your answer in Remind by 11 p.m., please.

Thanks for all you hard work during this difficult time.

Stay healthy and stay breezy!

COVID Quarantine Day 17

Good morning and welcome to computer science!

You should still be working on Unit 5: Lesson 5. Send me a link to your Clicker Game by 11 p.m. tonight. I’m very interested in trying them out.

Good Luck!

Stay healthy and stay breezy!

COVID Quarantine Day 16

Good morning and welcome to computer science!

Today you will be working on Unit 5 Lesson 5. Look for Resources and click on the Google Doc part of The Clicker Game. https://studio.code.org/s/csp5-2019/stage/5/puzzle/1

Make a Clicker Game of your own. If you include a hippo, ravioli or the solar system I will be doubly impressed. Have a friend check out your game to see if it works the way it is supposed to. This will likely take some time, so it is due tomorrow at 11 p.m. I will share the best ones with the class if possible.

Stay healthy and Stay Breezy!

COVID Quarantine Day 15

Good morning and welcome to computer science!

I woke up this morning to an Internet outage. It took me a while to reset the system, but all appears functional, now. It is difficult to do anything on code.org without internet.

So, at this point we should be progressing nicely through Unit 5. Lesson 4 should be complete and today I’ve opened up Lesson 5. Just to touch base, I’d like you to define If-Statement and send me your answer in Remind.

Thank you,

Stay healthy and stay breezy!

COVID Quarantine Day 12

Good morning and welcome to Computer Science!

Today, I ask you to continue with Unit 5: Lesson 4. Since this is Day 12 you should be finished with parts 1-12 by the end of the “hour”.

Let me know if you are progressing smoothly, if it’s too slow, or you got stuck.

Thanks!

COVID Quarantine Day 10

COVID Quarantine Day 9

Good morning and welcome to computer science!

Please continue with Unit 5: Lesson 4, today.

Our extra-special question of the day is this:

What will be the difference in output (if anything) between

COVID Quarantine Day 8

Good Morning! Welcome to Computer Science. Those of you bored by the quarantine get a chance to do a little more coding this week as I’ve opened up Unit 5: Lesson 4, Controlling Memory with Variables. Please make sure you watch the first part of the video today (part 3) before jumping in to the coding part. Try to get through parts 1 through 5 today. Make sure you do it correctly before hitting “Finish”.

Thank you and stay breezy.

Sincerely,

Thomas B. Brown
