Your child has been given a username and password for the IXL Math website. We will be using IXL to review skills from previous grades. We will also use this website to practice specific 8th grade skills as we learn them.
Please encourage your child to work on online math on a daily basis!
Your child has a Moby Max Math account which can be accessed through the DPS website student page, clicking first on CLEVER and then on MOBY MAX.
Your child has taken a placement test and I will show them this week how to see their placement and progress using the COMPLETE DASHBOARD. Please review this progress weekly.
I do not look at how many minutes your child logs in, I count how much progress is made on the Grade Level equivalencies. Basically, each child should be making 0.1 progress per week. The amount of time to complete this work will differ depending on your child’s ability to focus and their efforts.
Moby Max is one way that students can refresh materials from previous years that has not been mastered to retention. In the past, I have found that students who regularly work at home on Moby Max, do better in class with the new 8th grade content and do better on future NWEA tests.
Open house is this Wednesday evening. I look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have about 8th grade math!
