Setting Goals for Learning English

Hey Students,

Remember how you set goals for yourself to improve your English skills at the beginning of the year? Well, now you’ve received your first report card. How did you do? Are you reaching your goals? If so, what are some other goals you’d like to attain? If not, what changes should you make to reach your goals?

Next week, we will look at your goals again for this next card marking period. You will have time in class to select a new goal or keep working on the same one if you need to, and you will also be asked to reflect (think about) that goal and how you will reach it. I will be having mini-conferences with you to ask you about your goals.

Check out the link below for some ideas and examples on setting goals.

PARENT CONFERENCES, PINK OUT

It was wonderful to meet your parents at conferences this week. The parent-teacher-student relationship is crucial for your success!

Today – “Pink Out!” Wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness, and come out to the football game wearing pink as we support our team!

Tomorrow night – set your clocks back one hour before going to bed. I recommend you still try to go to sleep earlier, as you may feel tired on Monday morning from the time change.

Next Tuesday – No school for students (PD for teachers)

Next week – We will continue our grammar lessons on Subject-Verb Agreement. We will also begin chapter 3, which is a poem on Thanksgiving. Use mental images to make personal connections to some holidays you celebrate with your family!

First Week of School

Hello Tractors!

It was wonderful to see that I have some former students returning to me and also to meet some new students! I hope you had a fabulous first day at Fordson! We will work together over the next few weeks to get to know each other and the routines that will help us learn more efficiently.

Are you thinking about your goals for English? One thing you can do to help yourself tremendously is to read every night for at least 30 minutes. Gradually, you can increase the minutes! Find something you enjoy reading about and do it! Check out the link below to see all the benefits of reading every day! See you soon! 🙂

Welcome to Fordson High School!

Welcome Students!

My name is Linda Ciciotti, and I will be your ELL English teacher this semester. I hope you had a fabulous summer! We will have an exciting school year as we learn about each other and the world. I am confident in your ability to learn and find success in my class! Here are some things to consider as we start this school year:

1.)  What are your goals for learning in English this year with reading, writing, speaking, and listening?

2.) What is something you want me to know about you?

Here are some items to bring to school each day so that you will be organized for success:

  • notebook or binder with 3 sections of paper and pockets
  • pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters
  • textbooks, dictionary

I look forward to meeting you and working with you as you prepare for your future college and career goals!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ciciotti
