Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures on.  The 1st is dedicated to the “little angels” – departed infants and children, and the 2nd is for departed adults.  The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends where we remember and prepare special foods in honor of those who have departed.  It is believed that if we celebrate the memory of our departed loved ones they will never be forgotten.

There is a saying in Mexico that says:

We all die three times:

-The first when you stop breathing.

-The second when we return to mother earth.

-The third when someone pronounces your name for the last time – when there is no one left to remember you.

Here is a video that shows us the importance of remembering our departed loved ones and sharing the tradition of Día de los Muertos with our children.
