Back to School: Hybrid

Dear River Oaks Community,

We are so excited to have our Rockets coming back to River Oaks!!! It has been almost a year since our students have been at the building to work on their academic and social development and it is time for them to come back šŸ™‚  At the last board meeting it was decided that we will transition into the ā€œHybrid Modelā€. This means that we will have 2 cohorts of students;

  • Group A- comes to school from 9:40am-2:20pm on M/TH (2 days)** Lunch will be provided and we will follow the CDC and Wayne County Health Guidelines.  Group A-students will have their special area classes on days that they are not at school. The whole class will meet remotely on Wednesdays with their classroom teacher.
  • Group B- comes to school from 9:40am-2:20pm on Tues/Friday (2 days)**. Lunch will be provided and we will follow the CDC and Wayne County Health Guidelines. Group B students will have their special area classes on days that they are not at school. The whole class will meet remotely on Wednesdays with their classroom teacher.
  • Important- the classroom teacher will meet with students at home using zoom from 8:40am-9:05am on days that they are not at school. The classroom teacher will go over their content practice for the day, remind students about special area  classes for the day, and answer any questions students may have. Attendance will also be taken at this time for the asynchronous day.
  • Both groups have live remote lessons on Wednesday with their classroom teacher.  (1 day)
  • River Oaks classroom teachers will post their A-Day and B-Day student schedules on their schoology page each week.

Preparation for the Hybrid Model has taken place over the course of this school year. Our classrooms have been altered to align with the ā€œNational CDC Health Guidelinesā€ and our school district has been working with the Wayne County Health department to make sure we have taken the correct steps to have our schools as safe as possible.

At River Oaks we have been working extremely hard providing live instruction in the morning and offering learning labs in the afternoon that are specific to our students academic levels. To prepare for the Hybrid model groups, we looked at the following items; placing siblings together in the Dearborn High Feeder on the same days, planning for students that need support services, planning for students that need transportation, balancing numbers in the groups to align with national spacing guidelines, and looking for common levels amongst the students in the 2 groups. This process was very time consuming and making changes can cause a ā€œdomino effectā€, so we ask that no changes are made during this hybrid transition period. My hope is that the Hybrid Model goes very well and we can be back to a normal 5 day week in the near future. We are all going to have to continue to work together to keep the levels low at our building and our students/staff/ and parents safe.

Please remember to go over the ā€œCOVID Screening Questions- English or Arabicā€ with your student(s) each day and to keep them home if they have any symptoms.

Thank you to all of our parents for everything that you have done over the last year to help with your student’s education! We appreciate your constant support and devotion šŸ™‚

  3. Select STUDENT PORTAL from the drop down menu
  4. Log into your child’s Schoology account

Assignments

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well. To the parents that shared their child’s login information with me yesterday, I did go into Schoology and enroll students in a course called “Ms. Charara’s First Grade”. Please have those students login to their Schoology accounts. Once they are logged in:

>Go to COURSES

>In the upper right hand corner you’ll see MY COURSES, click on that

>Then scroll down to the bottom and you should see MS.CHARARA’S FIRST GRADE

When you open the course, you’ll have access to two folders and a zoom icon. Please have your child complete the assignment in the writing folder for today and turn it in. If you did not share your child’s login information with me yesterday, please send me it so I can enroll your child. If you still don’t have access to Schoology, I’ll be working with you today to resolve technical issues. Again, I welcome any questions, or concerns so please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your continuous dedication to your child’s education.

Best regards,

Ms. Charara

Wednesday, September 2nd

Good Evening Parents,

Thank you to those that came out to the meet ā€˜n beep. It was great to see everyone. Since teachers are to limit the number of days they are in the building, I will be virtually working from home tomorrow. For those that sent me their child’s login for Schoology, I’ll have their accounts enrolled in my classroom by tonight; which means tomorrow they can complete the mini assignments that are posted.

For those that are still struggling to sign in, I’ll be available by email to help with account setups. I also added the Dearborn Schools Help Desk phone number in my previous Schoology post. You can contact the Help Desk and have your child’s password reset to their birth date.

We will not be meeting via zoom tomorrow. If you weren’t logged on today, our next session will be on Thursday, September 3rd. I’ll post the link, meeting ID, and password on my blog. Please make sure to share your child’s login information with me so that I can enroll them in the course. Thank you again for your patience and efforts.

Best regards,

Ms. Charara

Schoology Sign In

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Thank you for your patience with getting the Schoology accounts going. A lot of parents have now been able to log-in. If you have not done so already, please contact me for your child’s Dearborn Schools email. That email will be their username for Schoology. If your child is new to the district, or their password was not changed by their kindergarten teacher, their password should be their birth date (MM/DD/YYYY). If they were in Ms. Abulhassan’s class, their password is (redwings); if they had Ms. Miller their password is (tigers). If none of these passwords work please feel free to contact the help desk and they can reset the password to your childs date of birth. Please do not call the school, seeing as these issues can only be resolved by tech.

Instructions:

>Go to Dearbornschools.org

>Click on Student Portal

>Click on Schoology

>Input student username (************@dearbornschools.org)

>Input student password: (MM/DD/YYYY), Ms. Abulhassan (redwings), Ms. Miller (tigers)

>If none of these passwords work, or you still get error messages please contact the Dearborn Public Schools help desk and ask to have your child’s password reset to their birth date (MM/DD/YYYY). (313)827-3003

Once you login to Schoology, please send me your childs username and password. I will then sign into every childs account and enroll them in my classroom; this will make the process easier instead of having every parent enroll. Once you are enrolled in the course you will be able to see my class folders, assignments, and a zoom button. That way when you log your child into Schoology they have access to everything and are no longer confused with sign-in. If you have any further questions, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you again.

Best regards,

Ms. Charara

Zoom Meeting

Good Evening Everyone,

I’m sharing the following zoom meeting number with you all. We will be meeting tomorrow at 9am. At this point, there is no guarantee that the meeting will work, but don’t let these technical difficulties be discouraging. If you are unable to log-on, or the meeting doesn’t connect we’ll try again on Wednesday, or Thursday. I look forward to seeing the children’s smiling faces (hoping this works!).
