Week of April 20 – Film Studies and the Fordson Learning Plan #1

Hello everyone! I hope this finds us at home and safe.

We will start a plan this week that will continue the same (with a few changes in type of assignment and topics) for the remainder of the school year.

You will need to check Google classroom for specifics. I will give out your assignments for the week by Monday at 11. You will then have until Sunday at midnight to finish them. Please make sure that you are giving everything your best effort so that you receive the best credit you can for the course.

I understand that we all have different struggles at home and how difficult it is to try and figure things out on your own so that’s why I ask you to go for best effort and completion.

The assignments
We are going to start a unit of Documentary Film that will last for two weeks so we will be doing some background information for that as we always do. It’s also Earth Day this week so you will be creating a project about that topic.
1. Earth Day informational video – you will create a 15-30 video on Earth Day [Google classroom has specific details].
2. What is Documentary Film – you will watch a video and answer some questions about documentary film.
3. Documentary Film survey – you will complete a short survey about your opinion about documentary films.
4. Google meet – On Wednesday (and all Wednesdays from here on out), we will have a Google meet from 1-1:40. We will spend that time answering questions and discussing the current film topic.
5. Multimedia journals – please make sure that you are keeping up with (or now starting) a multimedia journal of your experience during the COVID-19 confinement. Historians are already talking about this.

And there it is! You know me and my class…do NOT let this overwhelm you. I know that many of you have turned in work, and I am finishing that and putting it in Student Connect. You will have grades/credit for all completed work.

I will put out a seperate post with the schedule for office hours and Google meets.

Just make sure to put forth a best effort and check my blog and Google classroom and be part of the Meetings.

Hello and Welcome Back from Break

Hope that you had some time to relax. Now that we’re “back” please make sure that you’re checking this blog and Google classroom.

Please make sure that you are turning things in as you finish them. I will be updating completed assignments tonight and tomorrow.

Later today you will get an email from me regarding a survey that I need you to fill out in Google surveys. It will be an assignment in classroom. Please make sure that you complete it as it is a request from the district.

Spring break

I know that it’s not what we would have expected, but take this spring break time to enjoy the better weather. I will catch up on your work and anything you’d like to turn in. We will talk again on the 13th.
