We will be having a Valentine Card Exchange on the morning of Thursday, Feb., 14th.  It would be great if we could have a parent make cupcakes as well.  If you are interested, please let me know.  We have 23 students!

STEM interest

STEM Middle School would like to thank everyone for their interest in attending our school for the 2019-2020 school year.  To answer the most popular question we hear, there is no application process in order to be considered for STEM for those students who attend Dearborn Public Schools; instead, invitations will be sent out to all those 5^th grade students in the district that are found to be eligible.  To be eligible students must have the following:

–       A Winter NWEA math score in the 85^th or higher percentile.

–       A Winter NWEA reading score in the 85^th or higher percentile.

–       A Winter NWEA science score in the 85^th or higher percentile.

–       ADVANCED on the 2018 ELA and Math M-STEP.

Our hope is to have invitations sent out to all eligible 5^th grade students by the end of February.  From there, students who receive an invitation and indicate that they are interested in actually attending STEM in the fall, will be selected by lottery.  We will accept a final number of 60 students in to our 2019-2020 6^th grade class.

Reminder:  Our SS Test is still scheduled for tomorrow and our math test will be Friday.  Students will be given the math review tomorrow and we will complete it together.  The review for the SS Test was given to the students a couple weeks ago.

This is a busy week for us!  Please pay attention to the dates of the upcoming tests!

Due to the extreme weather conditions the Skate Night that was originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan., 31st has been cancelled.  We will let you know the new rescheduled date when it has been decided.

I hope all of you are enjoying these two days off of school!!  Below is a change in information about some upcoming tests.

Social Studies Test has been moved to Thursday, Feb., 7th.  Study guides were given to the students over a week ago and hopefully everyone has been studying.

Math End of Module 3 Test will now be next Friday, Feb., 8th.  Students may go on Embarc for extra reviewing for the upcoming test.

DynaMath and Book-It will not be due until Monday, Feb., 4th.
