Camp

May 21st, 2018 / / categories: Class News /

Tomorrow is our camping trip!  I am sending a reminder note home today with any last minute questions you may have.  If you are sending in water or snacks, I have set aside a table in the cafeteria to put them on.  Students not attending camp will be spending the three days in Mrs. Currie’s classroom.  When they come to school, they are to report to our classroom first.  We have left some activities for you to do while we are gone and have even worked out some extra specials for you!

*Report to school at your normal time, drop off your luggage in the cafeteria and head outside to line up.  We plan on leaving by 9:45 at the latest.  We are looking forward to a fun filled three days!!

Dear Parents,

Here is a list of reminders for camp:

  • Departure – Tuesday, May 22nd – Students should arrive at school at their normal time.
  • Students should drop off luggage in the cafeteria and then go outside to line up and come into the classrooms when the bell rings. We are scheduled to leave around 9:45. Attendance will be taken in the classroom before we depart.
  • Bags/suitcases need to be clearly marked with the child’s first/last name. Please label all clothing/personal items as well.  All items need to be bagged, this includes sleeping bags, pillows, etc.
  • Bring an extra sheet to put over the plastic mattress cover.
  • Medications must be in the original bottle, labeled with child’s name, dosage and time of day to be administered. Place ALL medications in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name clearly marked.  MEDICATIONS MUST BE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER.  Students may not keep any medications in their suitcases/bags.  A completed health form (SIGNED BY THE DOCTOR) must be turned in for any medications to be administered.
  • Prepare for the weather! Watch the weather forecast for next week and plan accordingly.  Students need to have some kind of raincoat/parka with a hood.  Ponchos are acceptable, but also bring a warm jacket to wear underneath.  Students also need a pair of boots along with comfortable walking shoes.  Students should bring more than one pair of shoes and plenty of socks!
  • Snack & bottled water donations can be put in the cafeteria anytime between now and the day we leave. Please purchase small water bottles, so we can limit the “waste.”  We also need individually wrapped snacks for about 64 students (suggestions: granola bars, fruit snacks, chips, cheese/crackers, rice krispie treats).  LABEL ALL ITEMS – 5th GRADE CAMP.
  • Return – Thursday, May 24th – Parents should be at the school by 11:10 a.m. to pick up students. PARENTS MUST SIGN STUDENTS OUT BEFORE LEAVING.  Teachers will have sign out sheets outside.  Students are not supposed to come into the school to make any calls home.
  • If your child needs to be released to another parent, please send in written permission ahead of time!
  • If you need to get in contact with your child, call the Lindbergh Main Office @313.827.6300 and they will contact your child’s teacher.

Fifth grade safeties will not have post duties Tuesday through Thursday, but will resume their original post on Tuesday, May 29th.

Get ‘em packed…We’re ready to have some fun!

~~Please bring your donations to the office
marked “Teacher Appreciation.”~~**During Thursday’s special lunch, we are looking for two parents to cover each class while teachers and staff enjoy their lunch.  You will arrive 15 minutes prior to the students’ lunch hour, check in to our office and get a visitor sticker.  Parents can head to the cafeteria, find the classroom they are covering and remain ~ 1 hour.  Please remember that if we have outdoor recess you will be outside keeping an eye on the kids during this time, making sure they are safe.  If weather does not permit, parents would be in the classroom.
