Let’s Improve Together!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

There is only one more week left before break. We would like to end this year on a good note. We have had several visits from administration coming into the classroom to address the students on their disrespectful behavior in the building towards other students, teachers, and classmates.

We strive to support each student in their full potential on their academics. Therefore, it is imperative to have a good learning environment in the classroom. So far this has been lacking in part due to their behavior. By talking too much during instructional hours, talking while teachers are teaching, being disrespectful towards other students and teachers. Presenting a less desirable leadership role for other classes in the school. Starting arguments with others in the classroom. Making better choices is challenging at this moment. Their behavior will have to improve and mature in order to get ready for middle school next year.

To prepare the students for the rest of their lives we need to be on a united front. Therefore, parents we are asking for your support in this matter.  Please talk to you child and discuss this important matter.

In order to help the students, they were assigned a writing assignment to self-reflect on their own behavior. It is important for them to take a moment in time to put the focus on themselves and process their thoughts. This will be a great opportunity to connect with your child to discuss what the expectations are in school. In addition, what you as a parent expect from your child. Being held accountable for their actions is an important life lesson to learn. Therefore, we would like to work together on this matter. It is important for our students to be aware of this in order to succeed in life. The students were asked to answer the following questions:

  1. How has my behavior been in school?
  2. How has my behavior affected others?
  3. This is how I will improve my behavior?
  4. To be a good leader means….?

The assignment will be a personal piece and it will not be shared with other students. We want to make sure your child feels comfortable with writing their assignment and turn it in on Monday. Thank you for all your help and support in advance!

With warmest regards,
