Course Selection Sheets are being done Electronically

Our current 6th and 7th graders  are  completing  their course selection sheets electronically in Advisory and/or first hour.

We are instructing the students to show their parents/guardians the selections they made at home.

Students will have two additional days to change their selections once they discuss their picks with their parents/guardians.

We’d like to invite you to our 8th Grade Parent Night, on March 28th at 6:30 pm, held in the Dearborn High Auditorium. You’ll get to meet some of the staff, find out about awesome clubs and athletic opportunities, tour the building, and learn a little bit about what life is like at Dearborn High.

Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program

This program is not affiliated with Dearborn Public Schools but we are passing on the information, nonetheless:

High-achieving 7th grade students with financial need are encouraged to apply. Cooke Young Scholars will receive:

  • Academic and college counseling, including college tours and visits
  • Financial support for academic and extracurricular enrichment, including study abroad and internships
  • A guided pathway to college success
  • A community of ambitious peers and mentorship opportunities

Program Experience

The Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program is a selective 5-year pre-college scholarship for high-performing 7th grade students with financial need. It provides comprehensive academic and college advising, as well as financial support for school, Cooke-sponsored summer programs, internships, and other learning enrichment opportunities. Each Young Scholar is assigned an on-staff educational adviser who works closely with the student and his or her family, individually and as part of a scholar community. Educational advisers support Young Scholars to maximize high school experiences and go on to thrive at the nation’s top-performing colleges.

 CTE COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIR at Micheal Berry Career Center

 This year, MBCC will be hosting a CTE COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIR on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15th from 5pm to 7pm at MBCC.   This event will feature:
  • Staff and students from our CTE programs available to discuss each of the programs offered at MBCC (CTE Programs at the High Schools will be invited to attend as well if they would like).
  • Students from various clubs and organizations will be in attendance (BPA, DECA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, Student Leadership)
  • We will have many of our industry partners here to discuss career opportunities in various CTE fields (event is held in conjunction with our Spring Advisory meeting on this date)
  • Representatives from HFC and several other colleges will be her to discuss “Articulated Credit” for CTE  students, as well as college applications, dual enrollment and financial aid.  I am looking for anyone you might know who’s willing to participate in these efforts (point of contact, someone who’s done this for you, etc.)
  • Tours of our building and representatives from several of the other heights campus programs.
  • Light refreshments will be served.

DCMST Informational Meeting

DCMST will be holding an informational meeting for parents of current 8th grade students that are interested in attending the DCMST on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the MBCC Lecture Hall. Henry Ford Early College  Health and  Manufacturing applications are now available.

The application(s) for Henry Ford Early College  Health and  Manufacturing are now open.  8th grade  students may apply for one or both schools. In order to make the application process smoother and simpler, a Google form was created and sent to every 8th grader in the district, using their school Gmail address.  HFEC  will look at the students transcripts once they apply.

Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology VISIT

The Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology (DCMST) will be visiting Bryant to meet with our 8th grade Algebra students in the AUDITORIUM ON
Dec 12 during 5th hour.  The online application process will be explained to the students at this time.
The DCMST is the Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology.  It is a high school program where they spend 1/2 day at DCMST and 1/2 at their home high school
Algebra is a prerequisite to apply
