The Importance of Grades and Staying Connected

The last nine months have been very challenging for everyone. The staff at Bryant Middle School understands that the pandemic has forced us to change many things: the way we live, work and go to school. The school district has been very clear and consistent in their message that although instruction and learning is occurring remotely this year, student participation is expected, as well as, achieving and/or maintaining academic grades. Following your child’s progress on Parent Connect is a vital step in supporting the academic growth of your child. In case you have not yet seen their report card, you can view it on Parent Connect or Student Connect:

Go to the “Marks” tab and click on “2020-2021 Report Card Q1” to see their 1st marking period grade

FYI, the Dearborn Public Schools has a policy for students who fail two or more core classes. This policy includes the expectation that these students attend summer school. A core class is defined as a year long course, such as language arts, math, science and social studies. Although a student may have earned a failing grade in one or more of these courses in the first marking period, this does not mean that they will earn an overall failing grade for the course(s). However, earning a failing grade in the first marking period, and subsequent marking periods can make it more difficult for your student to achieve a passing grade at the end of the year. It is because of these reasons that it is very important for your student to seek the help that they need to improve their success throughout the upcoming marking periods.

The staff at Bryant Middle School is always available to support students and parents. We encourage our students to work hard and to stay connected with their teachers. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
