Does your child want to prepare for a career right out of high school?  Earn an associate’s degree at no cost to your family?  Take challenging academic classes and earn acceptance at a top-tier university?

All of those are possible with Dearborn Public Schools.  The district is proud to offer students a wide assortment of high school options to let them create a path that is right for them.  Parents and students in middle and high school are invited to learn more during three online Secondary Options sessions. Guests can attend online to get overviews of the different options, and then ask questions to learn more. The presentations will also be recorded and available later on the district YouTube channel.

Students are encouraged to start planning now for next year’s classes.

Eighth grade students will need to commit in the spring if they are interested in attending certain programs that run for all of high school. This would include applying for Henry Ford Early College programs that allow students to attend for five years and get both a high school diploma and associate degree or vocational certification at no cost to the family.  Henry Ford Early College allows students to specialize in medical or education careers, and Henry Ford Early College Advanced Manufacturing focuses on certain trades and technical fields. 

Some academically advanced eighth grade students will also be invited to attend the Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology.  Students in that program spend half their school day at the Dearborn Heights Campus attending advanced classes and half at their home high school.

For students already in high school, the Secondary Options sessions will touch on many other options available to students including trade and other vocational programs, Advanced Placement classes, free dual enrollment in college classes, and the Henry Ford Collegiate Academy.  Like the Early College, the Collegiate Academy allows students to attend for five years to earn a high school diploma and an associate degree.  The Collegiate Academy and Early College programs are provided through a partnership between the district and Henry Ford College.

It was so nice to meet and see all the Bryant families yesterday at Open House. This is going to be a great year!

Dear Bryant Families,

It’s hard to believe summer is almost over! I hope you have had a wonderful summer
with your families and friends. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of
you. My name is Jamie Nowak and I am the new guidance counselor at Bryant Middle
School. I have been with the district for 22 years. My career in Dearborn has taken me
to a few different schools, in a few different positions. In the years before my career,
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Wayne State University and
my second Master’s Degree from Spring Arbor University, in School Counseling.

With Bryant being my new family, I also have my husband Steve and my son Matthew.
This summer we have been fortunate enough to have taken a few family vacations.
Yogi Bear Camp Site, in Fremont, Indiana was our favorite place we visited this
summer. My son and husband have a huge love for golf and I, on the other hand, know
nothing about golf, except how to drive the golf cart for them. In these coming years at
Bryant, I am excited to get to know all of your families.

As the counselor at Bryant, I want you to know that my door is always open. An open line of
communication is critical in the success of our students. Working to maximize student success

Future 7th & 8th Grade(2021-22) students Electronic Scheduling

Our current 6th grade and 7th-grade students have received the directions on how to select their extended core classes on STUDENT CONNECT for next year. (They do not need to select Physical Education, they will receive it automatically).

I encourage you to discuss your child’s selections with them. The directions include steps on how to change selections once they have already been made, if needed.

Henry Ford Collegiate Academy

To qualify, students must be Dearborn Public Schools students for tenth grade, be on track to graduate, and score college-ready on the PSAT10 test in the spring of the 10^th grade. Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology (DCMST)

DCMST is a half-day program for high achieving, highly motivated 9^th through 12^th grade students from all of the Dearborn middle and high schools.  Students concentrate on the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) curriculum utilizing an inquiry approach to learning.  Admission is selective. Michael Berry Career Center

The Michael Berry Career Center offers career and technical classes in the fields of Medical/Healthcare, Information Technology and Design, Criminal Justice and Law Careers, Business (Accounting, Management and Marketing and Culinary Arts.  Additionally, we offer programs in Construction Trades and Education Careers housed at all three Dearborn High Schools.  Tenth,  Eleventh and Twelfth grade students attend the Career Center for three hours each day and generally take two hours of a career program and one hour of a class needed for graduation (US History, Economics/Government or Senior Language Arts). Students enter the school in the 9^th grade to pursue a career in engineering and/or manufacturing. Henry Ford Early College-Pre Education

Located on the campus of  Henry Ford College, this small high school is a collaboration between the Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford College (HFC). Successful completion of the 5 year program results in students earning a high school diploma and an associate of science degree in Elementary, Secondary, or Special education, a paraprofessional certificate, and/or up to two years of college credit, at no cost to the students or their families. Dearborn Magnet High School

Students who have experienced difficulties at their home high school may apply to enroll at the Magnet. The small high school offers a personalized learning environment focused on high school graduation. Dual Enrollment

Through dual enrollment, high school students are able to take college courses to earn both high school and college credit at the same time.  Many Dearborn students attend Henry Ford College gaining a head start on their college education. There are limitations on course availability based on completion of high school courses as well as test scores. Contact: High School Counselor

Honors Classes

Honors classes are offered at Edsel Ford and Fordson High School in Language Arts (9^th and 10^th grades), Geometry (9^th grade), Algebra 2 (10^th grade), Pre-Calculus (11^th grade), Biology (9^th grade), Chemistry (10^th and 11^th grades) and Physics (10^th and 11^th grades). These advanced high school classes are faster paced and more rigorous than non-honors classes. Enrollment is limited and is based on past grades, test scores, and teacher recommendation. Dearborn High School is piloting a program that provides all students access to honors level material. Students who demonstrate “honors level” performance throughout the semester in assessments, projects, and performance tasks receive the honors designation. 

Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement classes offer high school students university-level courses at their high schools or online through the Michigan Virtual High School. Enrollment is open to all students in the 11^th and 12^th grades. Students who take AP classes are encouraged to sit for the national AP exams in May of each year. Students achieving a passing score on the exam are awarded college credit by the college or university they attend after high school. Contact: High School Counselor

Reading/Writing, Mathematics, and Science Intervention Classes

Each high school offers additional support classes in math and reading/writing support during the school day to students who are performing substantially below grade level. This support class is in addition to students’ regular language arts and/or math class and replaces an elective.  Contact: High School Counselor or Math/Language Arts Coordinator

Work-Based Learning

Seniors who have a job may be able to earn high school elective credit for their work-based learning experience. Contact: High School Counselor/High School Principal

Summer School

Secondary summer school offers students another opportunity to catch up on lost credits as well as offering the possibility of taking additional classes during the regular school year. District-wide summer school location rotates each year between Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, and Fordson High School. Contact: High School Counselor/High School Graduation Intervention Specialist

ASAP Extended Day Program

We encourage students who fail classes to immediately make up the lost credit in this after school program. This is important for our goal of keeping students on track in order to graduate high school on-time. Credit by Examination (Test Out)

In January and June of each year, students in 7^th through 12^th grades have the opportunity to earn high school credit for up to 2 semester-long classes by passing a comprehensive exam. Students prepare and study on their own and are required to achieve a score of 78% or higher on the exam to show mastery of the high school course content. 9^TH GRADE

Early Start

Incoming ninth grade students who have been identified by their middle school as likely to have challenges in high school are recommended to participate in Early Start during the summer between eighth and ninth grades. Students spend 12 days during the summer working with the high school staff on study skills and previewing the ninth grade curriculum. Once the regular school year begins, these students are followed closely by their counselors. The counselors meet frequently with the students and communicate with their teachers to ensure that any problems the student encounters are caught and addressed in the earliest stage. Lunch meetings give students the opportunity to stay in constant contact with their counselors and the ninth grade lead teacher. This offers the strong support necessary for at-risk freshmen to adjust to high school. Contact: Ninth Grade Lead Teacher/High School Principal

MIDDLE SCHOOL OPTIONS

STEM

STEM Middle School (A National Blue Ribbon School) is a 6th – 8th grade option for students to participate in learning that is focused on a problem-based, technology rich curriculum that enables and empowers students and faculty to engage in professional innovation and independent problem solving. At STEM Middle School we strive to implement Project Based Learning; interdisciplinary lessons; a focus on 21st Century Thinking Skills; creative and innovative thinking; the delivery of a rigorous and real-world science, mathematics, engineering and technology education curriculum; as well as innovative teaching and learning techniques that challenge the students and focus on their strengths. Students are invited to apply if they have qualifying test scores. A lottery is conducted to select the from qualified applicants.  

Advanced Math

Seventh and eighth grade students who have demonstrated sufficient prior learning and readiness are placed in accelerated math classes. Pre-Algebra is offered in seventh grade and high school Algebra 1 is offered for high school credit in eighth grade. Contact: Middle School Principal or Secondary Math Coordinator.

Middle School World Languages

Depending on enrollment, Dearborn middle schools offer French, Arabic and Spanish classes in seventh and eighth grades. The eighth grade year-long class is offered for high school credit. Contact: Middle School Principal or Middle School Counselor

Middle School Math and Reading Support

Each Dearborn middle school offers additional math and reading support during the school day to students who are performing below grade level. Middle School Music

The Dearborn Public Schools strongly supports music education. In grades 6 through 8, each of our middle schools either offers vocal and instrumental music classes to students during the day as electives, or if impractical because of low enrollment, as after school options. التسجيل للدراسة المزدوجة (مدرسة & كلية) 

من خلال التسجيل المزدوج يمكن لطلاب صفي الحادي عشر والثاني عشر الانتساب إلى الكلية أثناء دراستهم الثانوية. العديد من طالب  مدارس ديربورن مسجلين في كلية هنري فورد وبدأوا فعال حياتهم الدراسية الجامعية. الصفوف الجامعية المتاحة خلال هذا الخيار محدودة وتعتمد بشكل على إتمام المواد في المرحلة الثانوية وعلى نتائج الامتحانات. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي \ مستشاري المرحلة الثانوية. 

صفوف مرتبة الشرف  

تتوفر صفوف مرتبة الشرف في ثانويتي أدسل فورد و فوردسون في مادة اللغة الإنجليزية لصفوف ( التاسع والعاشر) مادة الهندسة(  للصف التاسع) في مادة الجبر 2 ( للصف  العاشر) مدخل إلى الإحصاء للصف (الحادي عشر) وعلم الأحياء للصف(التاسع)و  الكيمياء للصفوف (العاشر والحادي عشر) والفيزياء للصفوف (العاشر والحادي عشر) تتميز هذه الصفوف بمستواها المتقدم وبصعوبة  المنهاج المدرس خلالها مقارنة مع غيرها من الصفوف العادية. نسبة الانتساب محدودة وتعتمد على ما سبق من درجات دراسية ، نتائج  الامتحانات، وتوصيات المعلمين. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي/ مستشاري ومدراء المرحلة الثانوية . تختبر ثانوية ديربورن هاي برنامج يوفر لجميع الطالب إمكانية الوصول والانضمام إلى صفوف مرتبة الشرف. يحصل الطالب الذين  تصل مستويات أدائهم إلى “مستوى مرتبة الشرف” طوال الفصل الدراسي في التقييمات والمشاريع ومهام الأداء على تقدير الشرف. 

صفوف المستويات المتقدمة 

تقدم هذه الصفوف للطالب مستوى تعليمي جامعي خلال دراستهم في المدرسة الثانوية أو عبر شبكة الأنترنت عبر مدرسة ميشيغان  الثانوية الافتراضية. التسجيل مفتوح لطلاب الحادي والثاني عشر. يتم تشجيع الطالب الذين يدرسون في هذه الصفوف المتقدمة على  الخضوع المتحان المرحلة المتقدمة الوطني الذي يجري في شهر آيار من كل عام دراسي. سيتم مكافأة الطالب الذين يجتازون هذا  الامتحان بنجاح بمنح دراسية من قبل الجامعات التي ينتسبون إليها بعد المرحلة الثانوية. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي/  مستشاري المرحلة الثانوية. 

التعلم على أساس مهني 

من الممكن لطالب لثاني عشر الذين يعملون كسب حصص دراسية للصفوف الاختيارية خلال الدراسة الثانوية . لمزيد من المعلومات  التواصل مع موجهي/ مستشاري ومدراء المرحلة الثانوية.  

صفوف المساعدة في الرياضيات ، القراءة والكتابة ، العلوم : 

تقدم كل ثانوية للطالب الذين يعتبر مستواهم الأكاديمي أقل من مستوى الصف العام وخلال اليوم الدراسي الاعتيادي صفوف مساعدة في الرياضيات ، القراءة والكتابة ، العلوم ، إلى جانب صفوفهم اليومية في آداب اللغة و / بدلا عن صفوفهم الاختيارية. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي/ مستشاري المرحلة الثانوية ورئيس قسم الرياضيات وآداب اللغة. 

الدورة الصيفية / المدرسة الصيفية  

تقدم الدورة الصيفية للمرحلة الثانوية للطالب فرصة ثانية من أجل التعويض عما خسروه خلال العام الدراسي والنجاح بالمواد التي  رسب فيها إضافة إلى فرصة دراسة مواد إضافية جديدة خلال العام الدراسي . تتناوب ثانوياتنا الثالث ديربورن هاي ، ادسل فورد و فوردسون في استضافة الدورة الصيفية للقطاع سنويا لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي/ مستشار في المرحلة الثانوية  

برنامج المساعدة المسائي: 

نشجع جميع الطلاب الراسبين في أي مادة من المواد المُدرسة اغتنام هذه الفرصة والتسجيل في برنامج المساعدة المسائي الذي يجري  مباشرة بعد اليوم الدراسي في كل ثانوية . الهدف من هذا البرنامج التأكد من بقاء الطالب على الطريق الصحيح بغية التخرج من المرحلة  الاستفادة من هذا البرنامج من أجل الثانوية في الوقت المحدد لهم. من الممكن لبقية الطلاب الذين لا يعانون من أية صعوبات أيضا  التقوية لدراسة مواد جديدة خلال العام الدراسي الاعتيادي . لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع موجهي المدرسة / أخصائي المساعدة  على التخرج/ مدير الثانوية .  

الحصول على الرصيد الدراسي عبر امتحان الخروج من المادة: 

كل عام وخلال شهري كانون الثاني وحزيران يمنح طلاب صفوف السابع إلى الثاني عشر فرصة للحصول على الائتمانات الدراسية  المخصصة لأي مادة دراسية من المواد المُدرسة في المرحلة الثانوية على مدى فصلين دراسيين دون الاضطرار لدراستها وذلك بعد  الخضوع لامتحان يحدد على أساسه مستوى كفاءتهم في هذه المادة .على الطالب الحصول على درجة 78 وما فوق في  امتحان القطاع  التعليمي الشامل. أي أن يكون الطالب في مستوى الإجادة في هذه المادة التي تم امتحانه بها. امتحان الخروج من المادة جزء من قوانين منهاج  الجدارة في ولاية ميشيغان. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع بالسيد الدكتور دانييل باترسون مدير قسم التقييمات،   pattern@dearbornschools.org

الصف التاسع 

البداية المبكرة 

ننصح طالب القادمين إلى الصف التاسع ” الذين تم تصنيفهم من قبل مدارسهم في المرحلة الإعدادية  بأنه من المرجح أن يواجهوا تحديات وصعوبات أثناء الدراسة الثانوية للمشاركة في “برنامج البداية  المبكرة” المتوفر خلال فصل الصيف الواقع بين الصفين الثامن والتاسع. سيمضي الطالب 12 يوما خلال  فصل الصيف بالعمل مع موظفي المدرسة الثانوية في رفع مستوى مهارات الدراسة والتعرف على مناهج  الصف التاسع. كما وسيتم مراقبة سوية عمل هؤلاء الطلاب والإشراف عليهم من قبل الموجهين حال بداية  العام الدراسي النظامي. تتضمن خطة الإشراف اجتماع المستشارين/ الموجهين الدوري مع الطالب  والتواصل مع المدرسين لضمان اكتشاف ومعالجة أي من المشاكل التي من الممكن أن يواجهها الطالب  في أسرع وقت. تمنح اجتماعات الغداء الطالب الفرصة للبقاء على اتصال دائم مع المستشارين / الموجهين  ومعلم الصف التاسع الأساسي . ويقدم هذا الدعم القوي الضروري للمبتدئين المعرضين للخطر في الالتزام  والنجاح خلال المرحلة الثانوية. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع: رئيس فريق معلمي الصف التاسع &  مدير/ة المدرسة الثانوية. 

المرحلة الإعدادية

اعدادية التكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات ( ستيم):

إعدادية التكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات ( ستيم) هي مدرسة حائزة على جائزة الشريط الأزرق الوطنية هي خيار متاح للطلاب من الصف السادس إلى الثامن  للمشاركة في التعلم الذي يركز على منهج غني بالتكنولوجيا قائم على حل المسائل يمكّن الطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس من الانخراط في الابتكار المهني وحل المسائل و المشكلات بشكل مستقل.نسعى في إعدادية ستيم جاهدين للتعلم عن طريق المشاريع و الدروس متعددة التخصصات والتركيز على مهارات تفكير القرن الحادي والعشرين ؛ التفكير الإبداعي والمبتكر. تقديم منهج تعليمي صارم وواقعي في مجالات العلوم والرياضيات والهندسة والتكنولوجيا ؛ بالإضافة إلى تقنيات التدريس والتعلم المبتكرة التي تتحدى الطلاب وتركز على نقاط قوتهم. ندعو من كانت لديهم درجات تقييمات مؤهلة من الطلاب إلى التقدم للانتساب إلى  هذه الإعدادية.  يتم اختيار المقبولين من بين المتقدمين المؤهلين عن طريق القرعة.

الرياضيات المتقدمة  

يتم وضع طالب الصف السابع والثامن الذين أظهروا ما يكفي من التعلم المسبق والاستعداد في فصول الرياضيات المكثفة .  تم تقديم مادة مدخل إلى الجبر لطلاب الصف السابع مادة الجبر 1 لطالب الصف الثامن للحصول على رصيد تعليمي يستخدم  في المرحلة الثانوية. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع: مدير المدرسة الإعدادية أو منسق الرياضيات الثانوية.   

لغات العالم للمرحلة الإعدادية 

اعتمادًا على نسبة التسجيل ، تقدم مدارس ديربورن الدروس  في اللغة الفرنسية والعربية والإسبانية في الصفين السابع والثامن. كما نقدم الفصل الدراسي الممتد على مدار العام الدراسي لطلاب الصف الثامن للحصول على رصيد تعليمي يستخدم  في المدارس الثانوية. لمزيد من المعلومات التواصل مع: مدراء أو مستشارو المدارس الإعدادية 

الدعم في القراءة والرياضيات للمرحلة الإعدادية

موسيقى المرحلة الإعدادية

 DCMST Freshman application & selection process 2021

Dear Algebra students:

On behalf of the DCMST staff, I am sharing the following information: 

• Applications for current Dearborn Public School students and out-of-district students are available on our website/blog (deadline to apply is March 12, 2021)
• Applications are open to all students who will successfully complete Algebra 1 by June 2020
• Students will be selected based on available standardized test scores (NWEA, Algebra 1 Sem 1 CA) and GPA

Just a reminder, to be eligible, 8th grade students must be taking Algebra 1 currently,  have earned a  78% or higher on Semester 1 Common Assessment and successful completion of Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade.

Attached is a short video explaining what DCMST is all about.  We hope that all 8th grade Algebra 1 teachers can take some time during their class before February 17th to show this video to all of their Algebra 1 students.  

Then, there will be an open Q and A session Zoom during student Learning Lab time on Thursday, February 18th at 2 p.m.  The link to the session will be posted on the DCMST website.

There will also be an informational Zoom session for parents of eligible students on February 10th at 7 PM.  This link is below as well as on the DCMST website.
