Good afternoon future DHS football players and parents —

Just a reminder that there will be a player/parent meeting to kick of the 2021-22 DHS football season on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 PM outside in the home bleachers at the turf field at DHS.  We’ll be introducing our new head coach, Alex Grignon, and some other members of the coaching staff as well as talking about plans for the summer and expectations for the upcoming season.

Hope to see you there!

Athletic Physical Forms for the 2021-2022 School Year

For your planning purposes, the MHSAA has announced that all athletes playing a school sport in the 2021-22 school year will need to have a new athletic physical on file before participating.

We will not be using the health questionnaire next school year.  The MHSAA physical form can be found here:  https://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/documents/health%20safety/physical2page.pdf

Also, any physical dated after 4/15/2021 is valid for the 2021-22 school year so it’s ok to start completing this requirement now.

Volleyball and Football: On Hold For Now

In an effort to ensure everyone’s safety and to provide the best opportunity for the continuation of athletics, we are going to shut down all middle school athletics until Monday, April 26 (this includes practices and competitions).

As always, we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Athlete COVID-19 Testing

We have secured a 3rd party testing source (HYPE) to conduct our weekly Covid testing:

1. All Bryant Middle School athletes will be tested on Tuesdays by a mobile unit provided by HYPE Athletics.

2.  The consent form from the State previously filled out will not work for this testing, everyone must complete this new consent form that will be provided at practice by the coaches.

3.  Any student that does not test may not participate (practice or contest) until showing proof of a negative Covid test.  (They are not required to attend these testing times, but failure to do so will require them to find and attend their own testing site).

4.  Tests are required for everyone involved in MS athletics, regardless of age.  If a student is playing a MS sport, they will be tested or forfeit their right to participate.

5.  All tests will be reported to the State (which  ensures our compliance with the mandate).  We will also be informed of the positive cases, so we can take appropriate actions on our end.

Thank you to HYPE for partnering with us and ensuring that each building has its own mobile testing clinic.  This will eliminate the need for transportation and ensure that every kid has the opportunity to get tested without seeking another source.
