geoscience week of 12/17/18

Monday 12/17/18  Students will work on content specific vocabulary on the Earth, moon and sun system.  We are starting our astronomy unit.  Students will also receive their gravity and motion test from last week and they will decide if they want to take the retest on Wednesday 12/19/18. I will be available for tutoring on Monday 12/17/18.  I have a meeting at the district office after school on Tuesday 12/18/18 and will not be available for tutoring on Tuesday.  Please note we will be going into holiday break and I have an out of state funeral to attend this upcoming weekend.  I may or may not have the test regraded until after 12/25/18.  Please be patient.

Tuesday 12/18/18 Begin chapter 23 section 1  Earth and Earth’s properties lecture.

Wednesday 12/19/18 Gravity and motion retest.

Thursday 12/20/18  Begin lecture on The moon. Earth’s satellite.  Motions of the moon, Phases of the moon   and eclipses

Friday 12/21/18.  Students will be doing Cornell notes on Earth and its properties and on motion of the moon and its phases and eclipses.

Have a wonderful holiday break and see you in January.

Week of 12/10/18

Monday 12/10/18  Students will turn in their Newton laws of motion booklet (summative).  Students will begin lecture on momentum to conclude this unit

Tuesday 12/11/18  Students will receive their study guide for Thursdays test

Wednesday 12/12/18  We will review for Thursdays test

Thursday 12/13/18  Test on gravity, Newton’s laws of motion, and momentum

Friday 12/14/18  Students will be career cruising with Ms. Nowack

Week of 12/3/18

Monday 12/3/18.  Students wil be taking notes on Newton’s law of motion starting with law number 1.

Tuesday 12/4/18 Students will finish their notes on Newtonian laws of motion.

Wednesday 12/5/18  Students will work on calculations that will reinforce how Newtonian Motion works

Thursday and Friday 12/6 and 12/7/18  Students will work on a summative assessment by creating a booklet illustrating Newtonian laws of motion.

week of November 26

Hello parents and students these are the following plans for the week.

Monday 11/26 students will be completing and submitting a fold able dictating Newton’s 3 laws of motion

Tuesday 11/27  students will take notes in their INS on gravity and factors that affect gravity.

Wednesday 11/28 students will be making a poster on how mass and distance between objects affect gravity as well as weight versus mass.

Thursday 11/29  students will be working on a gravity web quest to reinforce Tuesdays and Wednesdays lesson

Friday  11/30  students will start  taking notes on the three laws of motion as described by Sir Issac Newton

Plans for the week of November 19

On Monday students will be doing cornell notes on Gravity and motion and Newton’s laws of motion.

Tuesday the students will be working on a foldable on Newton’s laws of motion.  This is a summative assignment.

Have a great Thanksgiving break

Mr. Brown

Week of 11/12/18

Students will begin their review for Thursday 11/15 summative test.

On Monday student’s will be working on a forces and friction webquest as part  of their review.

On Tuesday 11/13 Students will be given a study guide so that they can start answering questions that will be on the test.

Wednesday 11/14 We will review for thursday test

On Friday 11/16 we will begin our new unit on gravity and Newton’s laws of motion and momentum.

Week of November 5th

This week students will be doing a lab on Monday 11/5. They will be using matchbox cars to calculate average speeds and acceleration. There will be no school on Tuesday 11/6 because of midterm elections. On Wednesday students will be learning about types of friction and how these forces impede movement. If time permits science students will do another matchbox car lab on friction on Friday

Week of october 29th

Students will be learning how frictional forces affect objects in motion.  Students will have a quiz on terms used to describe motion and use calculations to determine how friction impedes objects motion

Forces unit

Hello,  I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that for the next few weeks my science class will be discovering how different forces act upon different objects.  Students will be learning Newton’s laws of motion.  Students will also be able to calculate force in Newtons.
