Geo-science week of 3/11/19

Monday 3/11/19 finish lecture on sea floor spreading; begin project on sea floor spreading. Note first and second hours do not meet because of wida testing.

Tuesday 3/12/19  students will registrar for classes in high school.  Please try to be at school.

Wednesday 3/13/19 students will finish sea floor spreading project.

Thursday 3/14/19 begin lecture on plate boundaries.

Friday 3/15/19  Demonstrations on plate boundaries.

 

Geo science for the week of March 4th 2019

Monday 3/4/19  Students will finish their lecture notes on evidence for the continental drift theory.  They will also annotate a brief biography on Alfred Wegener for a project they will begin later this week.

Tuesday 3/5/19.  Students will do a crossword puzzle map of Pangaea using 3 forms of evidence on continental drift.

Wednesday 3/6/19  Students will write a two paragraph paper.  One paragraph supporting continental drift theory and one against continental drift theory.

Thursday 3/7/19.  Students will begin lecture notes on Plate tectonics and what causes the Earths crust to move.

Friday 3/8/19.  Students will take a brief vocabulary quiz (15 words) associate with plate tectonics.  Students will also finish plate tectonics lecture in preparation for a poster project the following week.

Please note on Tuesday 3/5 and Thursday 3/6  1st and 2nd periods will be wida testing and we will not be meeting on those days. In all likely hood these two periods will be slightly behind the other Geo science classes.

Geo-science week of February 18/19

Tuesday 2/19/19  Students will continue their lecture notes on the gas giants and outer planets

Wednesday 2/20/19  Students will be working on their study guide for the solar system test next Monday 2/25/19.  I will be out of the building today.  I have district professional development

Thursday 2/21/19  Students will complete their solar system notes.  Solar system formation.

Friday 2/22/19  We will review study guide for Mondays test.

Geo-science Week of 2/11/19

Monday 2/11/19  Lecture on the formation of our solar system.  from rocks to planets and how gravity plays a roll.

Tuesday 2/12/19  The inner planets.  Terrestrial planets

Wednesday 2/13/19  The outer planets.  Gas giants

Thursday  2/14/19  Half day  Review the weeks lessons.

Friday 2/15/19  No school, begin winter break.  School resumes on Tuesday 2/19/19.

Geo-science week of February 4

Hello all, after the snow days from last week some of last weeks assignments will be carried over to this week.

Monday 2/4/19  Students will be taking Cornell notes on chapter 28 sections 2 and 3.

Tuesday 2/5/19  Students will hopefully finish their science portion of the NWEA test

Wednesday 2/6/19  Students will finish their solar system poster.  This is a summative grade.

Thursday 2/7/19  Students will begin their lecture on “tools of astronomy”  Then take a quick vocabulary test on ” vocabs of our solar system and tools for astronomy.

Friday 2/8/19  Finish notes on “tools of astronomy”

 

Geo-science week of 1/28/19

Monday 1/28/19  Students will complete their solar system poster.  This is a summative grade

Tuesday  thru  Thursday  students will be taking their science portion of the NWEA test

Friday  2/1/19  We will begin our lecture on the tools of astronomy.

Geo-science week of the 1/21/19

Monday 1/21/19 No school Martin Luther King day.

Tuesday 1/22/19 Half day students dismissed at 11:05.  Students will begin/complete the vocabulary associated with our solar system

Wednesday 1/23/19 Half day students dismissed at 11:05.  Students will begin/complete the vocabulary associated with our solar system

Thursday 1/24/19  Full day of school.  Students will be taking Cornell notes on electromagnetic radiation and tools of astronomy.

Friday  1/25/19   We will begin our solar system unit with its formation.

Note, all 6,7 and 8th grade science will be taking the science portion of the NWEA test on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of week 1/28/19

 

Science week of January 12 2019

Monday 1/14/19  Students will begin working on their study guide for Earth, moon, Sun system.  Test is on Thursday 1/17/19

Tuesday 1/15/19  We will review our study guides for Thursday’s test

Wednesday 1/16/19  I will be out of the building for professional development.  Students will work on review questions preparing them for Thursday’s test.

Thursday 1/17/19.  Test on Earth, moon, Sun system

Friday 1/18/19.  Half day for students.  Students will work on vocabulary associated with our solar system.

Week of January 7 2019

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a pleasant break.

Monday 1/7/19 students will finish their phases of the moon poster that we began before the break

Tuesday 1/8/19.  We will be finishing our lecture on moon phases

Wednesday 1/9/19.  Students will make a moon phase foldable and attach it to their integrated science notebook (ISN)

Thursday 1/10/19.  Lecture on lunar and solar eclipses along with tides.

Friday 1/11/19.  We will do a lab that will model solar and lunar eclipses.

Please note we will have a summative test the following week on this unit.  Date to be determined.
