Hello wildcats, We will be starting learning labs during Asynchronous instruction . (afternoon sessions). Some of you will receive emails and phone calls to invite you to a afternoon zoom meeting to get you caught up on missing work and bring your grade up. This supersedes the online assignment. This is a chance to work on missing assignments with your teacher. If you refuse to do the zoom meeting with me, documentation will take place and Mr. Omar and Ms. Nowack will be notified.
This week we are on a week A schedule.

Hello wildcats, We will begin this week on how do scientists do science.
When using schoology to access the work you will probably have to refresh the page if you get the privacy notice setting. Just refresh the page and the document opens up. I’ve tried this on several student accounts in all my periods. Because it is Sunday today the course work is unpublished and you won’t see it until it is class time.
For Asynchronous learning (on line in the afternoon) You will be giving an IXL assignment. Even though the link takes you to the assignment, Remember to log into your IXL account. If you have done the assignment in a previous class you must answer the questions in order for the IXL to record your grade. You cannot submit the same IXL if you did it say last year or the year before. IXL does not work that way.
We are in a B week starting Sept 21 tomorrow.
Monday synchronous learning (in morning) 7 and 6 periods meet, 4/5 hour is my prep so I don’t know what class you have. Asynchronous (online afternoon learning) 12:15-1:10 is 3rd hour. 1:15-2:10 is 2nd hour and 2:15 -3:10 is 1st hour.
Tuesday synchronous learning (in morning) 1,2,3 Asynchronous (on line afternoon learning) 12:15-1:10 is 4/5th hour. 1:15-2:10 is 6th hour and 2:15 -3:10 is 7th hour.
Hello wildcats. Welcome to week 2 of virtual instruction. As we slowly roll out new capabilities with our schoology platform (baby steps) we will be using new things this week. I want to try breakout rooms during zoom meetings among other things. We will be using IXL as well this week.
When you click the link to the IXL assignment YOU MUST LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT!!! Even though I provide the link and it takes you to the assignment, you have to log in with your IXL account for the platform to record your scores. Remember you must receive a 80% as a grade.

Hello 8th grade wildcats. I’m sitting here with my dog Frank. Frank is a wiener dog, commonly called a Dachshund. Frank likes to get on my lap and get in the way of my typing. I hope there are not many typos on my blog. I went to a high school called Gabriel Richard. I wasn’t much of a student probably because I played three sports. I played football in the fall, I fenced in the winter. Do you know what fencing is? I also ran track in the springtime. After graduation I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served six years as an aircraft mechanic. Those were fun times as I could get as much chocolate ice cream as I wanted. It is my favorite flavor. What’s yours? When my enlistment was up, I enrolled at the University of Detroit and received degrees in Biology and chemistry. Upon graduation I worked for a lab analyzing soil, water and air samples for harmful contaminates. Soon after I went into education. For me to get certified, I had to get to get my masters degree, This is my twenty third year teaching. I know that this pandemic has altered the way we teach and learn but I hope it is only temporary. We are all going to be using technology like schoology and zoom so I am asking for your patience as you and I become more proficient in these new technologies. We will run into glitches and bugs, but that is to be expected. As wildcats we will overcome and become better and better as the weeks go on. We will be moving slowly (baby steps) and soon we will be running like superstars as the years progresses. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning more about you.
Hello wildcats. Please do the IXL on food chains. Please note I am doubling the point value to help “boost” grades, You still need a smart score of at least 80. Per district instructions, You will not get any assignments for the last week of school. Good news is this is your last science assignment for the year. Because of promotion activities on the last week of school and due to limited time any missing assignments will be due on Sunday June 7th by 6 P.M. I will not accept or grade any work after June 7th after 6 P.M. If you have been keeping up with the assignments the food chain IXL is your last assignment. Many of you have turned in late work, rest assured I am grading said late work now. Just be patient.
Hello wildcats. I hope you had a blessed Eid and a great Memorial day, Because of the short week, your assignment is an IXL” evaluate claims about fossil fuels. This assignments is due on Friday 5/29/20. Please note, I received an email from the district stating that no work will be assigned for the week of June 8th. Therefore all missing assignments will be due on Sunday June 7th 2020 by Midnight. Please remember this is a district initative.
I hope this week’s blog finds you and your families are safe and healthy. Because this is a short week (no school on Friday) You have an IXL assignment on natural resources; water. This assignment is due on Thursday 5/21/20 at midnight. If you have missing or late assignments you will want to begin working on getting those assignments in. There will be a cutoff date for all late work so I can grade them and get them in the grade book to close out the school year. Stay safe
This weeks assignments; Watch the Bill Nye Video and answer the Bill Nye energy transformations worksheet. You may have to pause the video several times. Then do the phet lab on energy transformations. I have included a brief video on what the simulation looks like. Do the simulation and answer accompanying lab report. On Lab report make sure you go all the way through to question 3, It is a CER.
