So, many of you have been asking me for make-up work. So, as a gift I will be giving you until Wednesday night to do any make-up work. Those of you that are caught up can enjoy your free time. On Thursday morning, I will post the remaining work for this school year. You will have until June 5th to complete the remaining assignments. Please feel free to contact me if you need my help.
I hope you guys are all ready for a new topic. We will start off easy, maybe something you are already familiar with. This weeks assignment will be solving one-step equations. We will be working our way up to solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides!!! It is very important that you get a solid grasp on this concept before next week, where we will work through having a more in depth understanding of this topic. We will be on this for the rest of the school year because it is something you need to understand before moving on to 9th grade. This week you will have one video to view (it’s only 8 minutes) and two IXL sections to complete. That’s it! No assessment. Remember, anything over a 70 earns full credit for the assignment. These must be complete by Friday night. I usually check them Saturday morning, so if you are working on them during Zombie A.M time, it’s fine with me. Any late work will get partial credit from this point forward, so try to get this done on time.
I have linked the video and IXL section in Google classroom.
May, 4th 2020. Great News!!! This week will be a CATCH UP or EXTRA CREDIT week. Before we begin our next unit on equations, I am giving you guys the opportunity to catch up on any missing assignments you may have from the previous two weeks. All grades have been updated in student connect, so check there to see if you have anything to complete. Week one: 2 IXL assignments worth 50 points each, and one quiz worth 30. Week 2: 1-IXl assignment worth 100 points and one quiz worth 30. Every single point counts!!! IF YOU COMPLETE ANY LATE WORK, YOU MUST EMAIL ME SO I CAN GIVE YOU CREDIT! Its very difficult to keep track of IXL, unless I can get an email. Some of you with missing assignments will not be happy with your grade right now, so this is your chance to make a dramatic difference just by doing your work. Remember, you only needs a 70 or higher on your IXl work to receive full credit.
For those of you that have everything done (or those of you that haven’t), take a break or do some extra credit. I will assign 2 Ixl sections to complete before Friday, May 8th for 50 extra credit points. You don’t need to let me know about the extra credit, I will be checking them on Friday night. Sorry, I can’t accept any late extra credit.
After this week, I can not accept any late work from week 1 or 2 unless you have a special circumstance and email me.
Our Google classroom is live now! You should have all received your specific classroom code to your school email. Be sure to use the code to enter the classroom and stay on track with your assignments. Assignments will be posted every Monday, and will be due on Friday of that same week. If you are having trouble with the assignments, please feel free to reach out to me.
For this week…

Do the two sections of IXL

Distance learning up and ready to go. We are trying to keep in touch in so many ways. With the 4th card marking in full swing, we have to make sure each student has the support of their teacher. So, the 8th grade advisory classes have created a remind. Please be sure to join your remind group. There will be weekly check ins that all students must respond to

I know you guys have so many questions, this will be a great place to start.
This week we will be changing it up a bit. We will be trying to get some practice using the skills required for you to move on to ninth grade successfully.
Important items…
This weeks assignment will be on the I-Ready platform. Remember, you can access this through your clever app! (The one we used for the in-class diagnostic) This will allow for more targeted practice.
Log into your Clever account
Scroll all the way down to I-Ready
It should log you in automatically. I have already assigned tasks for this week. They should pop up in the teacher assigned tasks. Each of these lessons should not take 20 minutes to 30 minutes. Send me an email if it takes much longer. You have all week to complete them.
Welcome to another week of at-home learning. I am trying to make this process as seamless as possible However, we still have people not participating. An email was sent to the parents of those students. If needed, I will follow this up with a phone call.

Please understand that the assignments chosen are intentional and require practice in an area that many students are struggling in. IT IS NOT BUSY WORK!!! We don’t know how long this closure will last, so we must make sure we keep our brains active.
This weeks assignment will be on IXL again. Again, if you are having trouble logging in, let me know. If it is taking you too long to complete, let me know.
AGAIN! I will be accepting anything over a 70% accuracy in each are for full credit. I have already suggested the topics and highlighted the star next to them. However, just to be clear, you must complete all the tasks in the Coordinate Plane area. It is a short assignment this week.
I did not post an assignment this week to give you guys more time to complete the tasks assigned last week.
If you have not already done so, please complete the IXL tasks so I can update your progress. These tasks should be completed by Friday, March 27. If you are behind or struggling to complete this work, please reach out to me through email Beydouf3@dearbornschools.org .
I will be emailing the parents of the students that are not completing their work soon. Please stay up to date so we can get back to work once school resumes.
