You may have noticed this week your student coming home with different colors on their folder. I have encouraged a friendly/family feeling in the classroom to help all students get along with each other. Some students are having no trouble following the rules and are doing very well, others are still breaking the rules by talking, touching, ignoring instruction, and disrupting the classroom.

Please encourage your student to keep doing well, especially if they are getting yellow and orange in their folders. If they are getting green, at times they are breaking a rule and could be better, and a blue most of the day that student is breaking the rules. I also would encourage your student to ignore the rule breaker, even if they are friends.

I truly want the best for every student and for them to learn and enjoy Kindergarten!

There will be a trunk or treat on Tuesday October 30 after school. We need cars to sign up and donations of bags of candy. Car sign up is by the office and all candy donations go to the office.

Late Start is this Wednesday. Students will start school at 9:35am.

The Field trip has been cancelled for this Friday! We are trying to book a trip for November. More information to follow.

The week of October 22-26-18 there will be a raffle held at lunch time to win a pumpkin. Every staff member will  decorate a pumpkin that the students can try to win and take home. The tickets will be 25 cents and the students can buy as many  tickets as wanted for 25 cents each.

The school was able to get a grant to provide a fruit or vegetable snack to all classrooms every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So far we have had bananas, apples, and grapes. The students have enjoyed these extra snacks.

I will not be in the classroom the week of October 22-26, 2018. I am traveling out of state with my siblings  to visit my mom who is age 90 to help make decisions on her medical care and estate. I have a terrific substitute teacher Mrs. Rodgers who will take my place for the week.

Please help your student to continue to follow the classroom rules and procedures. I will be checking in daily with Mrs. Rodgers to hear about the class’s progress.

I will return to the classroom on Monday October 29, 2018.

So far we have worked on the letters Mm, Dd, Tt, Cc, Gg in the classroom. Next week we will work on the letters Nn, Hh, Ss, and Ff.

Sight words are I, A, To , Go , See, The.

Please help the students by reading and writing these words. Also look for the words in their books, magazines, and signs.

The  assessment is taking longer than expected to finish. Starting Monday 10-15-18 I will resume daily lessons and homework will be sent home. I will pull out during the day those students who did not take their assessments.. Thank you to the parents that helped with Math Centers.

A note went home Friday asking for parent help in the room. I need help during our Math Block and Daily 5 Literacy times. There will be a sign up outside the door or you can e-mail me or send a note in the green folders.

The times are: 8:35-9:35, 9:35-10:15, 1:00-2:00, and 2:00-3:00 every day but Friday.
