Essential Question: How do clouds form?

This week we are trying to explain how clouds form.  Yesterday students made some predictions and today we tested those predictions to see if we could make a cloud in class.  Check out the video courtesy of Hadil Bittar to see how we did.

Model So Far: Air

The model so far for air  was to be completed by today.  If you did not get it done make sure you complete it this weekend.  The three essential questions that you are addressing are

  1. Does putting air in a ball make the ball weigh more?
  2. How does air make a ball hard or soft?
  3. What is air pressure?

You need to include evidence and reasoning and/or a model to support and explain your answer to each question.

Parent Conferences

2017 – 2018 Parent conferences Information

Conferences in Mr. Bates’ class will be a little different this year.  Conferences will be student led conferences.

Our goal for students at Unis is success.  We know that may look different for each student.  We also know that when students take responsibility for their own learning, each student is more successful.  Student conferences are an opportunity for students to show their parents or other significant adult what they are doing in class and how they are taking charge of their own learning.

The way it works is when students and their parents check in they will pick up a script that will direct them to a series of stations that will guide students and their parents in a discussion.  Students will explain various components of their science learning activities to their parents.  Parents are encouraged to ask their child questions about how learning takes place, how students know if they are successful and what their child does when they are struggling.

See you at conferences.
