Bryant Middle School 6th Grade Orientation Information
If you have a current 5th grader who will be attending Bryant Middle School in the fall of the 2020-21 school year, please go to the Bryant Middle School blog page to learn more about Bryant and the opportunities for your child.  After you have viewed the information, please have your child select two extended core classes using the embedded survey.  Students must use their District gmail account to complete the survey.  Here is a link to the post on the Bryant blog:  Bryant School Blog – 6th Grade Orientation

Thanks,
Mr. Denison

We will be having a Big Blue Button meeting Friday at 1:00. Big Blue Button can be accessed through our class iLearn. We will be voting for speeches so don’t be late!

Students, if you are turning in an assignment on Google classroom that was assigned 5/11 – 5/21 please email me that you have turned it in. (This DOES NOT apply to students who are up to date with assignments.) Google classroom doesn’t notify me when you hand it in. This is not necessary for current assignments that were made this week 5/26 – 5/29.  I will not be accepting work from the weeks of 4/20, 4/27, or 5/4 unless there is a health or technology issue that you contact me about.

************Don’t forget that Mrs. Baloga, Mr. Harvey, Mr. Goeke, Mrs Ackerman, Mrs. Poisson, and Mr. Kwiecien have assignments on Google classroom for you to work on.************

Math

We will skip around the next 2 weeks in module 6 to review some topics. Once you get done with lesson 10 on Zearn, I will move you past the rest of the geometry to the end of the year review. You can stick to one a day. I know they may not match the lesson we are on.

Today we are working on Module 6 lesson 21. Here is the link to the video:https://gm.greatminds.org/kotg-em/knowledge-for-grade-5-em-m6-l21?hsLang=en-us

Today we will do problem set 1 and homework 2 with the video. Then do Lesson 21 homework number 1 on your own.

Science

Today, finish Mystery 6 and use your anchor phenomenon papers to review. We will take the quiz tomorrow. Here is the link again if you need it: https://mysteryscience.com/ecosystems/mystery-6/food-webs-flow-of-energy/212?code=MTI2MzM1NjE&t=student

  • Some students were done and asked to have the quiz open today. I did open it, but know I will officially assign it tomorrow, so don’t rush if you are not ready today, you can do it tomorrow. Make sure you watch the whole mystery, including the wrap up, before you take the quiz.

ELA

If you have not done so already, finish the 10-7-19 issue of Scholastic News, I am Fighting for Clean Water.  Here is the link: https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/ Complete the assignment on Google Classroom; Scholastic News 10-7-19. This includes the Close Reading questions, the quiz on the back of the magazine, and Quiz Whiz PDF. Be ready to discuss the debate about teaching cursive at our meeting tomorrow.

Writing: If you have not completed your Fifth Grade Memory Book assignment, please do that right away. It is due today because we have to turn the pages in to the printer. If you do not do the assignment we will not be able to include your page in the Memory Book!!!

Social Studies: We finally travel to the South where the war is very different. Many of the citizens are either neutral or Loyalists. They have difficulty getting soldiers to join the fight for freedom. Supplies are more scarce than in the north and the heat makes daily tasks difficult in the warm wool uniforms of the army. The American Army is having trouble winning any battles because of the lack of soldiers. Watch to find out what happens next!
