Helpful Vacation Practice

I am copying a paper that came home to you Thursday. It has many helpful sites for computer and explains that students should not take a vacation from reading and math. It should be fun. They do not have to complete all the math practice, but it may be fun to time them and see how much of a page can be done in 5 minutes.

Dear Parents,

Have a wonderful vacation with your fantastic children.  When we return it will be computer testing time, again.  I am including websites for practice that should work.  Readworks  has some reading with comprehension questions.   Prepdog is a site that is supposed to be specifically helpful to the NWEA (MAP) computer test.

I am also sending home a practice folder of Sprint pages (some students have addition and subtraction practice also) that we have not done in school.   These are great practice for what has been taught so far this year.  If your child has trouble, please give them some help with simpler problems.  I would like students to bring back the Sprint math homework, so I can reward the ones that took the time to complete it.  My intent is not to give too much, but to keep everyone in practice.  Please write a note if there was too much to do, but your child did some of it.

The book bag books should all be read and understood.    Students should make a list of words to learn from their books.  I gave some higher levels along with their reading levels because they wanted the challenge.

Reading and Math can be fun when it is easier to do by practicing!  Please continue to encourage your child, as I know that many of you do.

Computer Websites are:

Prepdog is a computer practice site for the upcoming NWEA or MAP test in January.
