Fordson Learning Plan

Hello All,

Here is the document that explains everything that you will need to know and do for the remaining school year. Please make sure that you read it all, and if you have any question don’t hesitate to ask.

FHS Remote Learning Plan

As of Monday, April 20, 2020 – ALL classroom activities for ALL students COUNT towards earning credit for each class. All activities will be assessed through STUDENT engagement and STUDENT participation. STUDENTS who are having difficulty with the activities or participation are to reach out to their teachers for additional support. Teachers will be logging contact with students as well as maintaining records of STUDENT engagement and participation.

In the Governor’s Executive Order, it is mandated that students are to continue their education to prepare them to transition to the next phase of their education and complete the Michigan Merit Curriculum for graduation. That means that the answer is YES, ALL STUDENT assignments and participation counts for every student at Fordson High School.

Here’s a few highlights for online learning:

  • Starting this Monday April 20th, students need to check in with their teachers twice a week and submit their work each Sunday (see below) to get credit for 2nd semester.
  • Students who are checking in regularly and passing 75% of their assignments have the ability to earn an “A” on their report card for 6th card marking and semester 2. Go get those A’s!
  • Teachers will list new assignments for the upcoming week every Monday by 11:00 am.
  • Students need to participate in Google Hangouts with teachers each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday according to the Weekly Check-In Schedule listed in the chart below. Please schedule your personal lives around this schedule.
  • Assignments for the week are due by 12am (midnight) on Sunday.
  • There will be no end of semester finals.
  • Seniors last day will still be May 21st for classwork.
  • Teachers will be using their existing platforms for communication as before.
  • Chromebook distribution – we will notify you via robocall when we will pass out Chromebooks.
  • Please communicate with your teachers or counselors if you’re unable to check-in or complete any work.
  • The expectation is that students should be completing 30 minutes of work per subject per day.
  • If you need support, please reach out to one of the administrators. Our priority is on the safety and health of all staff and students. We must continue to support each other, our students and parents socially and emotionally at this time. Many of our families are dealing with significant financial issues.

Our Learning Plan

I hope that you and your family are doing well and have been staying safe and healthy.

Part of the district plan requires teachers to have at least two forms of contact per week with every student. Therefore, we will meet once a week for at least 45 minutes through Google Hangouts. A Google Hangouts is similar to an actual class where I take attendance and deliver content and/or have class discussions. Google Hangouts are not optional, therefore you must attend and participate in order for you to earn credit. This is in addition to our two assignments every week from Khan Academy. Please check your email for more information about Google Hangouts.

If you have any questions about regarding the Google Hangouts please email me.

Our second contact would be through Remind or email. If you still didn’t join my Remind please do so as soon as possible. Here is the information again:

Hello everybody,

I hope that you and your family enjoyed Spring break and that you are healthy and doing well!

I have to say that most of you have been doing a wonderful job completing the assignments online, and I am very thankful for that! I have only a handful of students that are not doing all of their assignments. My students, you need to remember that in order to earn credit or pass your class, you MUST finish all of your assignments online.

Here are the assignments for this week: Equations-Quiz 1 and Unit Circle.

If you have any questions or you need something, don’t hesitate to ask!

Stay home, stay healthy and stay safe!

I hope that everyone is staying home safe and healthy!

We still need to practice because I do not want you to get behind academically while school is closed. You must work on Khan Academy assignments for at least half an hour to an hour a day. You can count on me for help through Remind or email.

For this week, I want you to finish these two assignments on Khan Academy by March 30th: Exponential models (Unit Test) and Logarithms (Quiz 1). Please make sure that you go over the videos first before you start with the test or the quiz.

Thank you and please stay safe and don’t forget to take care of your elders.

Yours truly,

Announcement From The Capital

It is the expectation of your administration and teachers that you participate in online learning.  The work being assigned to you is to ensure that you do not fall behind academically. Our goal remains 1200+sri, and proficiency in all subjects.  All careers require a minimum SRI of 1200 and proficiency in math.  We are not sure when we will return, but we will continue to provide you with learning opportunities.  As a family, it is important for us to continue to grow and thrive academically.  Thank-you

My seniors please keep in mind that you need to graduate this year, so do your best by keeping up with your teacher’s assignments online. My juniors you need to practice for your SAT and still need to study to pass your classes this year, so you become a senior next year. Please, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours truly,
